Budha's not so scientific Week 5 power rankings

Well just got home from a holidays so I am getting these up a bit later then normal.

    rank (last) Team-record-thoughts-next

    1. (1) Calgary 4-0: They came into Edmonton and beat the Esks. This is the first true test that they have had this year and they passed. That being said they just barely passed it. They have an interesting game next week as BC is coming off of a beat down at home to the Bombers, after they had played 2 very good games. NEXT home vs BC

    2. (2) Edmonton 4-1: They suffered their first loss of the season to the Stamps on Thursday night. The defense was very good again holding Mitchell to less then 150 yards passing. Some costly turnovers on the special teams and offense, and a couple of questionable coaching decisions really hurt the Esks. They have the bye this week to work on the Offense more and hopefully not leave the defense out to dry so much. NEXT bye

    3. (3) Winnipeg 4-1: They responded well to their first defeat by going into BC and beating them at home. The Bombers now move on to an interesting test in Hamilton where they just won their first game of the year. NEXT @ Hamilton

    4. (4) BC 2-3: After beating up on Saskatchewan and Montreal, BC came back down to earth with a big loss to Winnipeg. Glenn had an off game going 18/31 for 232, but the biggest issue was two picks with no TDs. This has to improve if BC has any hope in their next game. NEXT @ Calgary

    5. (6) greenwhites 2-2: The greenwhites, at least in the last game, seemed to have found a runningback. It will be interesting to see if this is a one game wonder or if this is truly the answer. If it is a one hit wonder then the greenwhites will continue to struggle. NEXT @ Ottawa

I will be honest I am really at a loss to rank the East. This is probably the worst that I have ever seen the whole division. In the past Montreal would be running away with it and the rest would suck. This year they all just suck, on the plus side for the East they are almost guaranteed to have a 2 win team after this week.

    6. (9) Hamilton 1-3: I am going to give Hamilton this spot based on the fact that they actually won this week. They seemed to have found a QB, at least in the short term, but with Callaros out for 6 more weeks it will be interesting to see if Lefevour is really the answer. NEXT Home vs Winnipeg

    7. (5) Toronto 1-4: There are some real struggles in Argo land. They have some huge injuries on Offense that are really hurting them. Ray can not do it all, and they are looking for someone to step up and helping him out. NEXT @ Montreal

    8. (7) Ottawa 1-3: They are making more strides in their first season. They are slowly starting to find some offense as last week they scored the most points since weeks one. It will be interesting to see how they handle the greenwhites running came this week. NEXT Home vs greenwhites

9 (8) Montreal 1-3: In the past I have said that I do not like to move teams down if they are on the bye, but I am going to make an exception here. Montreal has just looked so bad in their losses that it is hard to rank them higher. I did not hear anything out of Montreal in terms of bringing someone in to help with the offense, and they desperately need it. It will be interesting to see how they come off the bye with Dinwiddie able to work on his offense schemes more (not sure how many players stuck around for the bye week). It will also be interesting to see if they can start using Chad Johnson more.

Ottawa wins this week, for their 2nd of 4 wins this year, all at home.
