    Embarrassing Football Question

    Hey guys,

    What is a 40 defense?

    I'm a Yankee. Been in Canada a couple years. Never heard of 30 and 40 defenses until I came here.

    Can someone explain this to me?

      So a 40 is just four down linemen?

        No, that would be called the Double D defence or DD. Try and keep abreast of things please.

            That defense can be difficult to grasp.... mounds of information that can really leave an impression on the opposition two!

              Number of down lineman is right.
              30=3
              40=4
              50=5

                ok
                I was embarrassed by this question,
                too ashamed to ask ...
                when was the last Miss Grey Cup pageant held?
                Just found the answer on line, early 1990s, as follows:

                http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle27514033/

                A joke that a television announcer made back in the 1960s was that Jackie Parker had won just about every award CFL award except Miss Grey Cup. At the time, I thought that high comedy.

                Good thing that there is no longer a Miss Grey Cup pageant, in any way shape or form. Those kind of pageants are, I feel, degrading to women. How we have evolved from the 1950s when I was born.

                      The last Miss Edmonton Eskimo was 1993 -- it was former Esk Ian McLeod's daughter Chelsea, 42 years after the very first Miss Grey Cup contest.

                      I'm still trying to find out who won the 1990 Miss Edmonton Eskimo was. Yvette Fung was 1989 and Jennifer Brown was 1991. I'll have to go through the Edmonton Sun on microfilm -- I'm pretty sure they ended up always being featured as the sunshine girl after they won.

                        I seem to recall that in the dark depths of the Eskimo hapless 1960s Miss Edmonton Eskimo one year won Miss Grey Cup. It was the only bright spot that football season for Eskimo fans. No idea who or what season that was though. I am a bit surprised that I cannot find an on line listing of all past winners. Perhaps the League, or World, would just as soon forget about this chapter of CFL history.

                          Dude, it was just a pageant not an auction or whatever you're against this time

                            Miss Edmonton Eskimo won the Miss Grey Cup pageant 3 times in the 1960s:
                            Mary-Jo Powell (1960)
                            Dalene Henderson (1963)
                            Barbara Casault (1968)

                              You are definitely "The Man" when it comes to Eskimo history, Parkies. Thank you very much.
