Ottawa has pulled last contract off the table leaving him to be a Free Agent

Most likely will go to Hamilton I suppose...the cats offence should be very solid if they acquire him.

Indeed...if Ranek goes to Hamilton, then the TiCats will officially have jumped the 'Gades as my 2nd CFL team.

Ranek is one hell of a football player, and whoever gets him (probably the Cats...) is going to love having him on their team.

Too bad for the Gades however. Ranek is one of their few 'marquee' players. They can't really afford to lose him...

What the hell is the point in a second favorite team? Every game matters to your team. And any team that can benefit YOUR team by beating another team should be second favorite. Other then that....no point.

True, to a point...but if the 2nd team is in a game that means nothing to my team (e.g. East divisional game that won't affect the West standings), then I'll cheer for them.

I smell a 3-15 season, if that, coming up for Ottawa if they lose Ranek. If we didnt have Troy Davis then I would want the Esks to pursue this guy.

Man, I hope this is true...

There's speculation that Ranek's demand of minimum 150k was put forth to allow him to walk away from Ottawa.

And really, what are the guy's options other than Hamilton? Every other team seems to be set at RB. In case anyone's interested, the other RB's currently here are Howard Jackson & Keith Burnell. Jackson got a few touches last year, but not enough to really allow me to form an opinion. I don't recall Burnell getting a touch.

The 'Cats have also signed Jamal Powell, OL, formerly of BC, to replace Woodard who went to the NFL. The big question mark in my mind is still the D, though.
