Gavin Walls signs extension

WINNIPEG, MB - One of the most dynamic young players in the CFL will be
wearing a Winnipeg Blue Bombers uniform for some time to come with today's
signing of defensive end Gavin Walls to a multi-year contract extension.
As per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"Gavin Walls was an integral part of last year's team and we are pleased
that he will remain a Blue Bomber for the foreseeable future," said Bombers
G.M. Brendan Taman. "Gavin established himself as one of the premiere
defensive ends in the CFL in 2005 and we expect him to improve upon that
Rookie of the Year performance in the years to come."
Walls (6-2, 235 Arkansas '03 DOB: Jan. 29, 1980 in Fayetteville, Arkansas)
was named the 2005 CFL Rookie of the Year after finishing the season with 12
quarterback sacks, which tied him for second place in the league in that
category. He also collected 40 defensive tackles, three special teams
tackles, four pass knockdowns and five tackles for losses of eight yards in
17 games.
Walls joined the Blue Bombers as a free agent on Feb. 3, 2005. He spent the
2004 season with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe and attended the
Minnesota Vikings' training camp in 2003.
Prior to turning pro, Walls attended the University of Arkansas and helped
lead the school to the 2002 SEC Championship and back-to-back bowl games.
