    Is Gass a dirty player?

This is becoming a common theme on Riderfans and 13thman, as you can see here:

Is there something to this? I did see him try to trip Roberts...

I don't think he's dirty... he plays with alot of heart, emotion and power. Nothing wrong with that..

And of course threads coming from a Riders site will Slander him..he is an eskimo player after all...

It looked like he tried to trip roberts.. but we don't know for sure.. as for the hit on Mcmanus.. how do we know what he was talking about on the bench.....

He tried to trip him. That was pretty obvious...

that doesn't make him a dirty player... everything else said about him could be or could not be true...

          Fair enough.

But had it been Wickman who tried to trip Pringle, would your opinion be the same? Would you still give him the benefit of the doubt?

I think he plays hard and very close to the edge at all times. The thing with playing close to the edge is that it is easy to slip over it from time to time, which he also does.

Having said that, he generally has not hurt his team by crossing that line. Which may mean he knows how to time his shots as much as anything.

No offence...but I'm starting to notice 4 certainties in life.

              1. Death
              2. Taxes
              3. Esks making the playoffs

              4. Rider fans whining.

That is simply a case of a guy trying to make a play, "By any means necessary"... Occaisionally guys stray outside the rules if they are playing all-out and hell bent for election...

                Is AJ dirty sometimes? Absolutely.

That's what makes him so good. He does whatever he has to whenever he can in order to get it done. He is not out there to make friends.

I agree with the some of the other posts, he's on the edge and that's fine by me. He actually played meaner in his first year or so. I see his mean streak returning as being a sign that he's healthier than he has been in a few years. He is a linebacker for goodness sakes.

Gass plays with emotion, thats for certain. as for the head shot on Mcmanus, the cameras did make it look a bit worse than it was, we dont know what he was motioning but people came to conclusions on it. I wouldnt go so far as saying he is dirty, but some of his gestures bug the opponents. if it gets into the oppnents head, then hes doing his job. hes like a theo fleury type of guy, but of course alot bigger. Heywood is right when he says that he hasnt cost his team, and thats what it comes down to.

Re: Is Gass a dirty player?

IMO any middle LB who plays the game better be filling his tank with some psycho juice, it's part of the job description.......

Pless......he wasn't crazy, he was amazingly gifted
                          Schaefer......nuttier than a fruit-cake
Bass......one dose non-stop effort, one huge dose talent
Kepley.....raw emotion, intensity, talent, and desire.....100% madman

AJ doesn't stock the skills or insanity that some of these guys had (depending on which guy), he just has smaller parts of all of them.......
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Gass is the current darling for the qualificative of dirty, i think it is a load of ****, Phillion is the one most complained usually, some will allways complain, sometimes with reason, but this one is just ridiculous IMO.

Bass also was one mean SOB on the field.
