    Ranking the QB's

Just to switch gears a little bit away from some of the other stuff going on right now......

I'm borrowing an idea from another site where they asked to rate the QB's in the league.....the framework is just a certain few QB's, but I don't see why if you want you can't add some more if you choose....

      Re: Ranking the QB's

Pretty good list. A couple of minor issues (but nothing serious)

      1. Ray - I'm not sure if he deserves a 9 for leadership. He's never seemed like someone who the team would rally around. Of course, I'll grant you that there are vocal leaders and quiet leaders. Without inside knowledge (which you may have), it may be a bit of a stretch to say he is any more than an 8. Not a huge difference, but like I said, any of my disagreements are quite small in nature.

      2. Dickenson - He deserves at least an 8 for mobility. He is the most awkward looking person I've ever seen play football, but no QB makes linebackers whiff more in tight quarters than Dickenson. Damn frustrating to watch unless your name is Rammer.

      3. Pierce - While 50 may be his reading this year, his ranking should be up there with the Dickenson and Ray's of the CFL. He has the same kind of 'aura' that Dunigan had when he first came into the league.

      4. Maas - I know he was a fan favorite here (hell, I even wanted him to be a Rider) but there is no way that he can be ranked above Burris or Joseph based on last years performance. I know he was hurt, but his arm strength cannot be listed any higher than 6 at this stage of his career.

      5. Burris - If anyone, other than Joseph deserves a 10 for arm strength, it would have to be Burris. But I would knock off 2 points for mobility. While he gets around quite well, he rarely makes defenders miss in the open field like Dickenson or even Joseph.

      6. Joseph - I cannot comment fairly on this, although I do think he should be ranked higher than Burris and Mass, but only marginally. What I can say is this is his make or break year. He has all of the physical tools and now has a cerebral former QB at head coach (no knock on Barret, but Austin is beyond smart and a slave to detail). If Joseph cannot improve the 'mental' aspect of the game, this will be his last year as a QB.

The other guys I have no issues with except that Allen should be ranked at about 12 at this stage of his career. It is almost as bad as watching Jordan as a Wizard.
It's gonna be legen... wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is ...dary....

Geeb's - he may be under rated......I just don't know how I'd rank him differently in any other specific catagory......

Nice analysis, great work. From my point of view I'd just have a few changes:

Ray: Arm strength a bit lower
Allen: Arm strength a bit higher, accuracy a bit lower
            Pierce: Mobility a bit higher
            Maas: Mobility a bit higher
            Joseph: Leadership a bit higher.

              Like a 5.
If Ray gets 6 for mobility JM should have 5.
But I like your rankings Op

re: Ray's arm strength......while it is admittedly weaker than some of the QB's in the league, I don't think he would have got his extended NFL look if he didn't have at least something attached to his shoulder.....and as such I thought I had marked it down accordingly....

                  Durability.................4

I guess durability and longevity aren't the same thing.

And I would give Burris a 10 for arm strength as well. He can easily throw a 60+ yard interception.

When Ray went to the NFL I knew he wouldn't stick because of his arm strength but thought he would get a look because of his accuracy and low int's. I hope he returns to his pre NFL form.

not when he has been injured for half the season each of the last two years......

                        Re: Ranking the QB's

Nice work, but I'd give Burris a 4 on accuracy and a 4 on mobility.

The 4 on mobility is for hook-sliding short of a certain 1st down all the time.

                          Re: Ranking the QB's

I watched the "classic" regular season game last night on Shaw's trial day of ESPN Classic Canada...2004, TOR @ SSK, 17-12 Argos. Not really a classic at all.

Except when, on Sask's potential game-winning drive with under a minute left, Hank throws it right into the arms of Mike O'Shea, who returns it back nearly all the way, and the Argos run the clock out.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhh, it felt good to see that sort of football again.

I think so. His screams when he was getting sacked were getting more audible.
