Eskimos add two rookie defensive backs

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos announced today they have signed rookie import defensive backs Ricky Williams and Ahmad Treaudo.

Williams played his college ball at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. His senior year in 2005, Williams played in 11 games and recorded 25 defensive tackles, three tackles for losses and one fumble recovery. He also returned 21 punts for 659 yards and two touchdowns.



After playing his college ball at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Treaudo spent time in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons (2005) and the Minnesota Vikings (2006). His senior year at Southern he was named to the AFCA I-AA All-American Team after leading the Division I-AA in interceptions (9), along with four pass breakups and 28 total tackles. (Note: last name pronounced Tru-doh)

That stat has to be incorrect, no one averages 31.4 yards on just punts. Perhaps kick off returns.

Treaudo sounds promising from a playmaker stand point. One of these new DB's will stick around as our 6th guy I would think and some competition for Tompkins is a good thing. I have no problem with these signings.
