Cheatwood

Was unfortunate to endure the TERRIBLE Ched broadcast (as I was visiting family this weekend up north and was on the highway headed home) but it sounded as though Cheatwood established himself quite nicely in his first game back in a year.

Any reports from you guys?

like the guys on the broadcast said... it looked like he was missing a bit of jump (conditioning) and maybe a bit limited with his lateral movement (after-effects of injury). He did turn in a serviceable game on the line - as did everyone on the line.

He looked fine. Had an early ball tip at the LOS that should have resulted in an INT. Seemed to be in the Al's backfield often. Should only get better.

Once he shook off some rust, he looked like one of the best lineman on defense we've had all year.

Hopefully they can find a way to put Hollis back on the roster once he returns from injury.

He definitely has some rust to knock off. From what I saw he was thinking too much instead of reacting at the LOS against the run. All in all I'll take that game in the hopes he will take things up a few notches in the coming weeks.

We had six sacks. Thanks in part to Brian Chui who couldn't snap the ball to save his life...but methinks that is attributable, in part, to the jump the D-line was getting -- making Chui worried about being bowled over and thus altering his snaps.

Warner had the kind of game we've been expecting him to have all year in the middle.....

Nice to see Cheatwood play a team type of defence. Played the run well and kept Brady from scrambling. Abdullah seemed to free lance too much and we were getting hurt by delays to the RB and the QB running to the left D side. The knee didn't seem to bother Cheatwood but it will likely take a while to get into game shape.
Thought the D has really improved it's tackling -some games earlier in the year I've seen better tackling in mud wrestling. Shabazz made a couple of great one on one tackles.

And once we can start doing that consistently on offence, then we'll be dangerous.

Totally agree about the LOS,Dies.
BC was nothing unlil they used 2 import OT"s. As much as I hate the way they both play ,they give a real ATTITUDE thing to the lion's O.

Exactly, IMO, Joe Smith gave that o-line more than the two OTs did. If we had Smith and ran the ball they did, McGrath and Kabongo would have a field day out there.

and this IMO is the reason for our success. If we want our ends to wreak havoc in the backfield, then we need the big boys to occupy some blocks in the middle. Otherwise, they can just slide a back over to help out on Braidwood. It's not 4 individuals each trying to get to the QB out there, it's a unit working together to control the line of scrimmage. These guys need to be helping eachother get to the QB...we saw that on Sunday.

The d line was great on stopping the short game.

But I don't think we've turned a corner at all in the pass rush. At least half of our sacks can be attributed to Brady holding the ball way too long.

Which means our secondary did a good job
