    Let's be honest here.......A Griswold Analysis

    Okay I bleed green and gold, I really do, but honestly our chances are not looking good.

    Let's look at some numbers.........we are 2 points back of Calgary and a tie won't do us any good........we need to be ahead of them which basically we need to win 2 more games than them or at least win 1 and tie 1, when they lose twice.

    This week:
    We play BC
    Stamps play Winnipeg

    Gris's prediction: We both lose.

    Week #17:

    We play BC again
    Stamps play Winnipeg again

    Gris's prediction: We both lose again.

    Week #18:
    We play Saskatchewan
    Stamps play Montreal

    Gris's prediction: Stamps win, we lose.

    Week #19:
    Stamps play BC
    We play Hamiltion

    Gris's prediction: We win, Stamps lose.

    This still leaves us 2 points behind them, and thus no playoff spot. In order to pass the Stamps, we either have to beat BC or Saskatchewan, and both seem to be a very tall order right now. And that's assuming the Stamps don't rack up anymore wins. I think our best hope is for the Saskatchewan. Hopefully by then they are far enough behind BC and far enough ahead of us/the Stamps that Austin sits alot of his starters. This is the only way I see us getting that other win we need.

    And honestly as hated as the Esks are by anything Green and White, I can't see them doing this...........

    I think we're pooched, as much as I love my team and everything they stand for.

    Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

      Cramps could very easily lose to Montreal. But then again any of those games are up for grabs. That's why they play them and that's why I love sports. You never know.

        Burris could also come back and any of those Cramp games down the late stages are now up for grabs.....

          If we don't win this next game at home, turn out the lights the parties over.

          We won't win in BC place.
          Might just beat the Riders.
          We will probably lose in Hamilton though we'd at least have a small shot.

          One thing that is for sure we need either Montreal or Toronto to sweep their up coming series to have any hope for the crossover.

              I'm preparing a shift in my allegiances as we speak. Instead of being a die hard green and gold fan, I'm about to become a fan of anyone that plays the green and white.

                I'll wait for the playoffs before I start cheering anti-Green/White....and even then I'll probably be cheering for the Riders in the first round. I think we can take one against BC, and I think we have a shot against the Riders, and we'd better beat Hamilton.

                    I agree that it doesn't look good. As long as we are being honest I have to say that we just aren't a very good football team. We are still better than last year and are headed in the right direction but there are simply too many doubts about the club's leadersip (and it isn't just DM).

                    I really hoped that JC would bring a different perspective but it hasn't happened. Either DM still has too much influence or JC doesn't grasp things too well either. It doesn't help when your O-line continues to struggle and receivers continue to drop the ball.

                    Of our existing receivers I think that only Tucker, Stamps, Acree and Peterson should be invited back next year and hopefully we will use the no.2 pick to grab that long awaited impact Canadian receiver. You guys know more about it than I do. Who looks good in the Canadian draft that can actually catch the ball and run with it on a regular basis?

                      I think this team needs a 'psychologist' (can anyone say Tony Robbins )!! With all of the discussion surrounding play calling, overall talent and (of course) coaching, there has been one aspect that has not been talked about...and that is 'chemistry'. You can have all of the talent in the world and a great coaching staff, but if your team does not have chemistry, they are not going to win.

                      This team does not have an identity and it starts with all of the changes they have been forced to make because of injuries. It has already been mentioned how the defense is looking much better and it is directly related to the fact that they have been able to field the same roster for more than two or three weeks! We are not going to be able to say the same thing about the offense because injuries have all but assured that is not going to be the case from here on in. Offense takes longer to get in 'rhythm' and I am afraid the Eskimos are out of time for this season...

                      To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, it was about the way I played the game.

                          I'd replace Stamps with Nowacki in that list...he's had more touches this year than last and has looked pretty good, save the one bad drop last game.

                          Then, I'd use the pick somewhere else (like maybe LB).

                          Not sure who's ranked high draft-wise this year, or even who's eligible in CIS - will have to wait till the draft list comes out to pick some names out that I know had a good year.

                            Tucker, Stamps and Peterson. In my mind we desperately need a number 2 or 1A guy behind Tucker. Nowacki is okay but he's another guy that has to catch everything or he's not worth having around.

                              I agree that we need another explosive receiver, but I'm happy with the guys we have, I just think that they aren't playing to their potential. Dropping passes, not blocking downfield, not getting open....when it happens with every receiver that has come into the system through the last 2-3 years, you gotta think that there is something else involved (i.e. coaching) Acree can make plays, Kamau has been consistent...but other than that all receivers has been lackluster. We have an explosive receiver in Tucker, but we aren't getting the ball to him...why spend a lot for another guy when we have one we aren't using, and if Tucker isn't getting it because he draws so much coverage, then why can't anyone else get open? If Maciocia is going to run a pass oriented offence with no run game, then at least have a good pass attack....our pass offence sucks, and that's supposed to be Maciocia's specialty.

                              As for our draft pick, I just want the best player available and someone who can make an impact. Perhaps a d-lineman or linebacker, but considering our past drafting history, I'm not too picky as long as they can be productive.
