    In my mailbox

    Renewals.

For 16 years I've had three seats under my account. One of our 16 year season tix holder has told me he's done. Still keeping the other two of course.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

    Re: In my mailbox

I'm done, two seats, 16 years also. They were a Christmas Gift in 91. Prior to that I hadn't missed a home game in 5 years.

I feel bad I'll be denying my daughter of something she really enjoys. But I will not attend another game as long as DM and RL are in the Eskimo organization. If they won't admit mistakes, I won't attend.

      Dear Mr. LeLacheur,

Thank you so much for extending the courtesy of keeping the price of my season seats the same as in 2007, while making others who buy later pay a higher rate. I feel very gratified that you reward loyalty in such a way, especially since you are so brave as to ask new customers to pay more. I always admire a man with guts. I thank you for rewarding my loyalty.

Just like you rewarded Danny Maciocia. Even though he is quite possibly the worst coach in Eskimos history, and has shown nothing but ineptitude as director of football operations, you have rewarded him handsomely while cunningly placing the blame on others, costing them their jobs and livelihoods. I feel so validated that you have included me in these rewards for loyalty.

However, since watching Eskimo football under Danny Maciocia, is actually more like work than my real job, and increases my blood pressure and healthcare costs, I must request a payment to attend Eskimo games, per seat, of $239.00 plus an advance of $23.90 per seat for the playoff game. Once payment is received, you can count on my season ticket renewal, again, at 2007 prices. Otherwise, please accept this letter as my written authorization to cancel my season seats.

If you cannot afford to pay me to attend Eskimo games, I will gladly pay again in future years, once the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club stops taking long time fans like me for granted. Once the organization puts the best interests of the Club ahead of personal friendships and family, and once the league sorts out its ridiculous officiating and begins to re-attract higher quality players, you will see me back at Commonwealth Stadium.

Thank you for your continuing support of the fans.

      Sincerely,

      (real name signed)
      -DDS

I'm sure some in our group of 24 will not be back, but we'll still have 20 tickets under my Dad's name. We always seem to find people to take over for others who aren't interested in re-joining us.

That's true. At the end of the day, it's still a very affordable and (generally) exciting form of family entertainment. There are a lot of people who've had season tickets for a long time and won't give them up so easily. There are also a lot of people who are casual fans, who don't really pay attention to the team enough to really care who is coaching.

Still, I really hope that everyone on here who is understandably upset about DM staying does write letters and send emails to the organization, otherwise all the b*tching is just a waste of energy.

I've done it, the letter writing doesn't work. Phone calls don't work, and emails don't work. Perhaps my lack of cash infusion will work.

And the game is no longer exciting, not with calls like Proulx's made, calls of incomplete passes where a player runs for three yards with the ball, and non-TDs catches in the endzone after the player maintained control for over an hour. I'm pissed of at the CFL for more reasons than just DM. But if the Eskimos would get rid of DM it would be a start for the healing period.

The above letter I wrote is going in anyway, 'Nook. It may do nothing but make me feel better. But, that will have to do. I'm not supporting the Danny Maciocia, Rick LeLacheur or Mr. Black any longer.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do just yet. I certainly won't renew right off the bat and probably not by the deadline. I'll monitor what moves get made up until the beginning of next year.

Renewing isn't necessarily supporting DM. Big difference. I prefer to look at it as supporting Shabazz, and AJ, and Tucker, and the players.

I agree with Beerfish, I won't be renewing for a while. I'm a cheap student, so I'll probably renew before the early bird deadline (and thus before the price increase), but I'll make them wait a bit.

I think that might be effective, if no one renewed right off the bat - might send more of a message.

We probably got Maple Leafs syndrome. Lousy team forever, but the fans keep filling the seats. No incentive to really build a winner.

God, I hope it is not true though.

3 years isn't exactly forever. If Esks fans keep shelling out and the team remains this bad until 2045, then we'll be comparable to the geniuses of Leaf Nation.

                            Re: In my mailbox

Our family had tickets for years dating back to Clark Stadium. We gave them up a some time ago when the kids came along due to the lifestyle change that went with it.

I have often thought of getting the family out to games on a regular basis. That dream quickly dies when we go to the occassional game and have to put up with the drunks and comedy that unfolds on the field.

Going forward, it may be best to keep your money and stay home. Otherwise if you go to the games, you may have to drink yourself into oblivion just to dull the pain.

Could this be the new marketing strategy for the Esks? There is good money in beer sales.

Are you kidding me! Try having season tickets for 19 years and never having a home playoff game. Or what about this...The team you really love not being in the playoffs for 11 years straight. You guys have had 2 bad years and now everyone is bailing out. Cancelling season tickets will only make it harder for the team you love, to compete.
                              Eskimo fans are spoiled rotten.
