"When you look at him he's six foot four and about 250 pounds and he runs a 4.57 (40)," Maciocia said from Montreal yesterday. "He is so much like Jason Clermont when you take a look at him.

"Obviously, he can catch the football, he runs well and he's a big target. It's not a given we'll line him up in the backfield (as a fullback)."

The 27-year-old Fabreville, Que., native was a tight end during his college career at Michigan and bounced around the NFL since leaving the Wolverines.

Dubuc's most recent NFL stop was in Houston. He is waiting for an NFL Europe opportunity to crop up. If it does, he'll head for the Continent. If not, he'll sign with the Esks.

"I always look at all my options," explained Dubuc.

"My dream is to play in the NFL and I'm going to do everything possible to do that.

"But if I realize I have to take a different path, I'll take a different path. Going to Edmonton is one of those options."

I was sitting here reading the paper.. and I read that on Dubuc and I thought 10 to 1 I'll bet Sandy is on here posting about it.. and sure enough here it is


I'd really like to see him in green and gold silks...but looks like he's more interested in sticking with the NFL be it Europe or North America.

Sandy, like yourself I have been following Dubuc's progress for quite sometime, hoping he would finally come up to Canada and play for the Eskimos.

But his dream is to play in the NFL.. he is determined to make that dream come true. NFL Europe is his best option for that right now.

I'm a bit concerned that his dream might be interfering with his development as a player. Getting bounced around from place to place doesn't do well for one's confidence.

he has to find somewhere where he will get some meaningful playing time and hold steady for a couple years......whether that be here or in NFLe makes no difference (except I'd say that the skill level between players is higher here than over there).

I agree with that... IMO talent in the CFL is better than NFLe, but its easier to get noticed if yer in the NFLe

I was just surfing the NFL Europe site. They only field 6 teams?? I thought there used to be 8 or 10 teams in NFL Europe a few years back?

they've contracted a bunch of them.......seems the only interest they can get is in Germany

I'd imagine The CFL will be seen as the preimier development place for future NFlers
