    Comments on Steven Jyles Interesting

This from the Edmonton Journal today on the return of Jason Maas to the Eskimos. I found the comments on Steven Jyles very interesting!

    Cheers,

I'd think Jyles is the odd man out - unless he really lights it up in TC

yeah quite interesting... Jyles is our version of Michael Bishop it seems.
      Turf Toe:
      - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
      - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
      - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

An O-lineman hey? I wonder which teams out there would be interested in Jyles?

"We're getting our leader back, someone who is going to make us all better, on and off the field," said Maciocia.

          Good grief.

Maas should help on the sidelines and he still has some playing aiblity I think though he was not too good the last couple of years. Shall we place bets on what part of the season people start calling for Maas to replace Ricky Ray if he struggles at all?

Unless there is a NI Olineman out there they can get, I think we're pretty set going into the year with McGrath, Comiskey, Fiacconi, Darilek and Kabongo
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Lafors surpassed Jyles on the depth chart in his first season with the Esks.
I think the writing was already on the wall for Jyles.

point #1. It still pisses me off to no end when I hear about Maciocia speaking about a lack of leadership that bringing Maas back is supposed to help address......it was his damn call to stick it to Mobes and Swerve's careers on the field, when there was no reason to. It was brought up here many times over the last couple seasons that they would need to be careful in that regard and lo & behold, we were right on the money. You'd think the pro's actually getting paid to make those calls could have seen that.......

point #2. Nice to give up on Jyles already. While he may have not done his part in keeping hold on the #2 spot, I also don't think that he has been given enough of a real shot here either. They wanted LeFors as the #2 guy as soon as he was brought in.....I think as long as Jyles is content biding his time, then we should be as well. Pawning him off for little return now could be a massive mistake.
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

I'd be very interested in picking up Sherridan via the FA wire if possible......it'd give us a legit shot at starting all NI's......

I hope the team carries 4 QBs on the roster for this upcoming season. If we let Jyles go, what happens with the 3rd QB position after next year? We have to start all over again developing someone else. A step back IMO.

This is why I was hoping Maas would be here strictly as a coach. I'm glad he's back in the organization, but not in a player capacity....

Re: Comments on Steven Jyles Interesting

Now I like Jyles... but the knock on him is (they say) he has probs reading the plays as it happens..and if he takes forever to "get it" like Bishop did - IMO we can't aford to hang on to him that long... LeFors proved with more learning he could be ready quicker than Jyles - even if Jyles could be the better QB overall Idealy I'd like to keep all 3

I disagree. I don't see Jyles fitting into the picture here anytime soon. I have to agree with TurfToe on this one that Jyles is the Eskimos' version of Michael Bishop.

In that case I'll remind you who the Argonauts starter is and that perhaps it should be mentioned what his record was in games he played for them this year......

Yeah, after waiting 5 years for him to finally "get it". We're set with Ricky so I don't see us giving Jyles a shot. Trade him while some team wants him. He is worth something.
