Maciocia leads Team Canada to Global Junior Gold
(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo head coach Danny Maciocia has led Canada to its first gold medal since 2000 at the NFL Global Junior Championship with a thrilling 38-35 victory over the United States Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville. The victory marks the second time Canada has won the championship in six years, and ends a five-year losing streak to the Americans. "This is an experience we will treasure for the rest of our days," said Maciocia, who now returns north of the border to resume his role as head coach of the Green and Gold. "Canada has waited a long time to beat the USA and at last our time has come." This is Maciocia's second year as the squad's head coach, taking over in 2004.
Team Canada finished the tournament unbeaten in five games, and was carried by an outstanding ground game featuring running back Jerome Messam who was named the team's MVP. He finished the championship game with 38 rushes for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Canada had to come from behind for the win after staking itself to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Trailing the favoured American squad 31-28 late in the game after giving up an interception return for a touchdown, Canada marched the field for the winning score with only three minutes remaining and then forced the U.S. to turn the ball over on downs to seal the victory.

I know there is another thread talking about his being there...this thread is dedicated to the idea the guy WON.
Let all the haters discredit this accomplishment all they want but the bottom line is the guy WON. Isn't that what matters at the end of the day?
