    Game 1 thoughts.

Could just link all the game threads from 2006 and 2007 cuz its all the same crap.

Ray was good, i'll give im that.

Oline was beyond craptacular. Bakker sit down. Terrible. Jones you had a horrible day. Couldn't stop the pressure, and couldn't open up holes to run - when asked.

I really think the injury to BigCom has much to do with the crappiness of the Oline this game.

Running game - was horrible and not used. I'm still not sold on Anderson and his running style. IMO we need a RB who can make things happen on his own. Like an Ebell or a Harris... We need a scat back , IMO Anderson cant do it. I still wouldn't want to get rid of Anderson - but we should have kept say, oh i dunno, Harris.

Play calling was brutal and the same it has been for the last few years...... course with piss poor protection for Ray pretty damn hard to set up for longer throws... and lack of a running game AGAIN doesn't bode well.

Dline still a bit of a concern IMO.

But really all this falls on DM.... We all knew Anderson woujld be the starting RB because he signed a nice contract in Jan. So perhaps we didnt keep the better RB. Then again , IMO, Harris didn't get a fair shake. DM's highly praised new Oline stank soo bad.

What really pisses me off.. is all the smoke we all had blown up our asses this offseason. We where told the offense would be different. More commitment to the running game, a more potent Dline. Better recievers. and more vertical offense.

ALL BS!!!... its the same damn offense for the last few seasons.

RR can't adjust to pressure as well as other more mobile QB's. He needs solid pass protection. That's his big failing. Even Cavillo can throw strongly against the grain on a heavy pass rush. Other running QB can dart far away from the pressure.
If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

I'd like to see what would happen with a solid Oline.... I do like the talent in the secondary and the recieving corp.

I am no impressed with Anderson. Yes Oline didn't help him - nor did the lack of committment to the Running game - but there are backs out there that when given the ball they can make things happen outta nothing... I dont see that in Anderson. Those big runs he did, a truck could have ran thru them..

IMO for this offense type we have, we need a scat type back. Not a power back. For some reason DM has a love affair for powerbacks... but we need a player who can make plays on his own to open things up for Ray..

I would agree with everything said except for Anderson....granted, as is the fault of the coaching staff we didn't really see a lot of him out there...but I saw at least 1 good run from him...if he gets well enough coverage...and there's the million dollar question....he can find the holes and go through them.

But we need to see more running plays and better coverage before we know for sure what we have in him.

Other than that I agree with everything else you said....

To this game, I say nothing, because there are no words that can accurately communicate the simple gesture of rolling my eyes as far back into their sockets as they can go.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I dont think a powerback is a type we need... We need a back who can spin gold outta ****.

Like I said.. I'd give him a couple more games.. but unless the Oline wakes up and the play calling calls some running plays we may never know what Anderson and the Esks could do

              [start rant]
I only saw the last few minutes of the 3rd quarter and the 4th for people can correct me if I am wrong here, or stop me if I said this all before.

              1. Defense played great until the last 6 minutes. Then they gave up the big TD grab to Bowman and the runs to Cates. Until then they had kept him very much in check all game (I think he ended the game with less then 100 yards rushing), to me it sounds a lot like last year.

              2. The play calling was brutal. There was very little run in what I saw, hell even on the second down play with Leflors in they should have audibled to a run and killed the Sask line that was just standing around, no one was rushing and they were standing staright up.

              3. There were all the short passes, nothing to stretch the D.

              4. No running game at all it would be interesting to see if any RB broke double digits in carries. You want to get the pressure off Ray, run the damn ball. THen the defense can not just look for pass and pin their ears back. Even if it is for 1 or 2 yards, it set ups up play action on first down and maybe opens things up to go long. Or you wear down the defense and you start to break them later in the game. Oh wait you have to KEEP RUNNING THE DAMN BALL to do that.

              5. Prefontaine was money for the most part. One bad punt and a missed FG, but that 54 yarder could have been made from 60 or more. Outside of that one punt, he was very good. Would like a little more hang time as it seemed that he was line driving them a bit and the Riders were able to get some pretty good return yardage.

I will wait until next game to truly judge DM andthe job that he did recruiting people. As it stands now though he will have a lot of work to do to convice me that he should last until Labour Day.

                Re: Game 1 thoughts.

Exact same offense as last year, Same problems on the Left side of the O-line as last year. Defense hekped us all they could but no TDs for 4 or 5 times in the Red Zone is totally unnaceptable.
Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

                  Re: Game 1 thoughts.

As I said in the previous thread if we are weak on the O-Line we need extra protection for Ray and someone to Blast open Holes for Anderson or whomever. to solve this dress one of our Backup O-lineman as a FB / TE that should correct the issue. BC did this years ago with Jamie Taras to protect Dickenson if I remember correctly.

As well I cannot remember the exact quote but Taman said Stephenson was the second best back in TC and the preseason just not quite good enough to beat out Charles Roberts. Well I say we grab him from their Practice roster for only about 50k and see what he can do. I know from watching U of Windsor games he is a power back with good speed. He cannot hurt us and if he pans out we have another import spot for either O-line or D-line.

I have merged 2 of my previous posts here in case someone notices or cares.

Careful - roll them back too far and the "tilt" light comes on (just like DM at the end of the game).

yep.. all the smoke blown up our asses..

                        No running game again.
                        Throw throw throw.
                        Short passes all the time...

All crappy play calling. Granted The Oline wasn't giving Ray much time to look deep and with the Oline unable to stop a 3 man rush doesn't help and could have influenced the playcalling... still though... no commitment to the running game...

DM offence all over again... I'd just like him to man up and say yes this is my offense and stop blowing smoke up our butts...

I didn't like what I saw period! Watching the Stamps play beat the Lions on Thursday, I don't like our chances for our upcoming home opener. With that being said, I will take that "wait and see" approach. I want to see how the double E responds to this loss on Thursday.
