Jason Tucker done for the year
Edmonton receiver Jason Tucker is done for the season and is facing a career-threatening injury after suffering a fractured/dislocated vertebra last night in Hamilton.
The club announced the injury this morning when the team landed at the Edmonton airport.
"Jason suffered a C6-C7 fraction/dislocation, a disruption in the normal stability of the neck," said Eskimos team doctor Jeff Robinson.
"This is often associated with spinal cord injuries but fortunately that is not the case here.
"This is an unstable fracture that could cause nerve damage, so it is very important it be stabilized."
Tucker is Hamilton and will have surgery there.
His wife is be flown by the team to Hamilton to be with him.
Tucker suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit in the third quarter last night when he collided with Jykine Bradley.
Sun Media reported that Tucker felt he might have suffered a fracture in his neck on the field - and Tucker has been proven correct.
At the time he left the field, the team actually believed the injury was much less serious and he was only going to the hospital as precaution.
More on this story will come within the hour.
