The good news was that all the bad playcalling and missteps on our side were nearly cancelled out by what musta been a new record of missed catches by the Calgary recievers. If Lewis, Copeland, Rambo and co. had caught even half of the big ones they dropped or didn't go for, we coulda been blown out tonight.

An embarrassed good team always plays better the next game. It was quite a challenge for the Esks and they had their chances to win it so I am not too disappointed. The bad thing is we are now still in a dog fight for Western Playoff positions though finishing 4th is a good bonus.

Brock Ralph needs to not become a starter.

There are at least one or two games a year where McGrath is totally overmatched by a strong bull rusher.

Kelly Campbell might not make it through the year on this team. Gaylor version 2. Three horrendous drops on easy passes, a mind numbing face mask penalty and then beaking so much at the other team when back in the huddle that an o-lineman and then Ray had to grab him.

Everyone was reading their press clippings, team, coach, fans.,,,1st place, macioica for coach of the year etc etc etc

That game rendered meanginless that big, swagger, chest puffing beating we put on Calgary on labour day.

Superior O and D-lines win both battles and we don't turn the ball over.

Nope, nope and nope, plus poor discipline resulting in bad penalties (including an unsportsmanlike conduct from the practice roster players on the bench!) and poor execution in all areas of the game.

As DM is quoted on the Esks website, "We have some things we can work on. We'll go back to work and fix it up." Yeh, just a couple.

Very disappointing.

Once again, I think DM is guilty of poor roster management last night. By dressing #99 to bolster his DL (Montez Murphy couldn't go because of a sore groin) he left himself woefully thin at DB and when Robinson went down in the 2nd quarter, Tristin Jackson had to play on the corner which causes 2 problems:

1. He's not that good as a CB and Calgary took advantage of that several times thereafter.

2. He can't stay fresh for kick returner duties and that hurts us in that department.

A simple solution would have been to dress #27 (Justin) as the extra DB (as was the case in Calgary on LD) and relegate #45 Doggett to the PR. Since when do you have the luxury of dressing an import solely to play special teams? Later on, if Doggett shows that he can play OLB/safety competently, then dress him for that role.

Oh man, where to start:

OL- did not have a good game. They were owned in the first half particularily and weren't giving RR the same protection he had on Monday. Mind you RR didn't have his best game(well, half anyway) by missing some guys, even with some dropsies. Tough to sit in pass protection all night and control the LOS...... just ain't gonna happen.

Playcalling - WTF..... we show good balance Monday and then completely sh*^ the bed in our own house. how many times did we try to run the ball(betcha we never broke double digits)? Just when I thought the coach was getting it.... he isn't!

DL - As was previously mentioned these guys looked tired. We had some pressure but not enough and not at key times. I gotta agree with the comments on holding though.... those #%$$&%#& zebras let A TON of holding go on the stamps side. Also, look at the Romero replay and you will see that he is fighting through his block and hits Booass IN THE TORSO just as he his completing his throwing motion. HOW THE $#%^& is that roughing the passer...... that was a "reputation" call, a TOTALLY BLOWN CALL pure and simple. Even Romero got up waving his arms asking "what the hell did I do wrong??? Just #$^%^%$ pathetic when we get screwed like that..... burns my A$$ to no end!!!!!!!

Turnovers - were key and led to the difference in this game... Their gaffs on Monday were ours last night. RR.... just who the hell were you throwing too??? We played catch up the rest of the night because of that one play!

Receivers - Gotta wear a large part of the goat horns for their play.... you guys are better than what you showed!!! Get pissed off at yourselves and stomp the opposition the rest of the season!!!!! PS sub Challenger for Brock and see if that helps.....

Secondary - Couldn't catch a cold... Buhl DID NOT play as well as other believe. He was owned by Ccopeland and missed numerous tackles as well as over running his coverage on cut backs. Why is this guy on the team.... you are the weakest link, goodbye!!!! As for the rest of them Burris wasn't getting pressured consistently and as much as I hate the puke... he will find the open man eventually. Injuries in the 4th didn't help matters any as we shuffled like crazy to match up. Coe.... hit the oppsing player next time, not your own guy okay! Stamps dropping balls made the defense look ALOT better than we really played.
Don't get me wrong here folks, I like the direction we are headed defensively but this was not a stellar outing by any means.... we gotta start learning from our defensive mistakes and make some adjustments!

ST - Not bad, not great. Don't like T-jax hurting the ankle again but he didn't let the ball bounce a bunch which is good. Completely blown call in the 4th.... you had it KP.... the blind mice strike again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HARRIS IS A QUALITY BACK..... WHY THE #$@%#$%* ARE WE NOT RUNNING THE DAMN FOOTBALL???????????????????????????????????????

We didn't lose because of Maciocia last night. Does Maciocia block Calgary's pass rush? Does Maciocia catch the ball? Does Maciocia try to cover Calgary's receivers. Does Maciocia take bone-head penalties. NO. The Esks simply did not execute last night and, furthermore, they s**t the bed doing it.

I paid special attention to Ralph on several plays last night and he was open--on both short and long patterns--but Ricky wasn't looking his way. There is simply no trust or chemistry between the two, which isn't surprising given #80's performance in the past except for the BC game in Vancouver in early August..

But what I don't understand is that the coaching geniuses in our booth upstairs must also see the same things that I see, so why not call down to Ray and suggest that he at least make him the prime receiver on a play or two and let's see if we get some results. Also the same geniuses can look at the film after the game and see if he is indeed getting open. Either way, it may take some of the double coverage away from Stamps and Campbell and open things up for them as well.

Agreed, Campbell was dreadful but he's played well for the most part so far this season and we can't throw him under the bus based on last night's performance.

Our ST were decent before Doggett arrived on the scene 2 games ago, and Justin is an experienced CFL CB who can help this team when required. And he was required last night when Robinson went down in the 2nd quarter!!

This game comes down to a bunch of "ifs". The biggest IF having Campbell being able to catch 3 of those passes.

I know we should take points whenever but we would have only been down by 3...I'm talking about going for a TD before half instead of kicking a FG. I thought we could have ran one more play and then taken the TO.

Turnovers did us in though.
