Changes at Home Games I'd love to see

I really really hate the home game experience now.

And I'm not even talking about the Gestapo, or the no peanuts.

The Whole experience is beyond lame and i'm embarrassed by it all. I could only imagine what other teams fans think when they come into the most beautiful stadium - only to see the fans intellegence get insulted for a full 3hrs.

    Lets break it down.

When I was down in Calgary for LD, I did not notice a tight scheldule to run events... perhaps its cuz i dont go to more than 1 game a year there... It just felt like a normal experience and not one thats run on a train schedule.

Yes I heard their PA annoucer say Make some Noise for your D, or lets step it up , or make it louder ( something like that ) over the PA system. And thats all fine. But can someone tell me if another team has a PA announcer AND a on field announcer????

Chris Sheetz has to ****ing go. He and the train schedule of events insult our intelligence as fans. I'd rather listen to Bryan Hall than him any day. What is with the telling of us what to do every time? Is this because the majority of fans are of the older rotting set and they need reminding of what to do outside of talking about how little johnny is doing in college?

Scrap the Wave, or just scrap the shedule of it.. if it happens on a whim good.. but stop having it on a shedule..

No More green and gold chanting back and forth

No more go Esks go back and forth

No more "we want the ball back" By far the most stupidest thing ever, and I bet he thinks he is a genius for thinking of it.

Basically I"m saying scrap everything he leads into the crowd to do. It should happen on a whim and we shouldn't be told what to do. I'm fine with the mascots with their little cue cards trying to get the fans to go go esks go, or d fence... but no more Sheetz...the only thing that should be on a shedule is the fight song and the 50-50. End of freaking story.

The PA announcer just u say lets make some noise or the like that was good..

I dont know why the Esks thought we needed Sheetz on the field to tell us what and when to do things... it makes the whole experience feel lame, false and planned...Let things happen naturally.. or if you want to time those things - just dont have him announce the ****ing event...

"ok guys, time to chant Green and Gold now, Ok guys time to do the wave"

The Contests fine.. i know those have to be on a shedule and thats ok.. i'm just talking about the crowd interaction...He shouldn't be leading anything to do with crowd interaction, he completely ruins the game experience and just makes it feel fake...

So basically all you don't like is Sheetz.
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.

As uber-annoying as Scheetz is, I'm stunned at how many people actually obey his commands. I tend to respond to them in a way that I feel is suitable but I get lots of funny looks from the people around us when I do it.

I was against that "who wants the ball back" thing until you see little kids that buy into that and have a great time with it.
CFL did a horrible marketing job to young people for so long its nice to see any step in that direction.

When I was in Calgary I liked the Jumbotron skits that one with the punter making fun of Sandro Deanglis was hilarious! I'd love to see that.

Calgary does some funny stuff with their jumbotron. I remember seeing an interview with Scott Coe during the game that was pretty funny.

I generally put in a pair of ear plugs. Sheetz is fine then.

Maybe if our fans actually made noise on D he wouldn't have to. We have to have the quietest fans in the league its embarassing.

The problem with the old make the noise nonsense is that he starts it WAY too early. Fans will make noise but they will not sustain it at a high level for long. He tries to start it up when the other team just goes to their huddle. What we need to do is do what the Riders so. Get a freakin air raid siren and fire it up just when the other teams offense is on the field.

Also, the thing that will make the fans be loud for their defense is when the players themselves egg the crowd on with the old arm waving bit.

The wave is nonsense. You do the wave when your team is up by 2 tds late in the game, then its fun. Doing the wave when you are losing is flat oput silly.

Or have the ambulance drivers fire up the sirens every time the defense on the field (like at their Labour Day game)

Agree 100% with this. When I bring my son to the game (my daughter's gets to come with me today), his favorite things are the mascots, the chants and the wave. He also loves being thrown a football when the Esks score.

So while much of that annoys the crap outta me, I understand why they do it.

Now for me, my biggest annoyment is the ushers. Well, not the ones that actually help people find their way, but the people who hold the cards for us to chant and set off the streamers after we score.

Those people spend most of the game screwing around with their friends and munching on stuff. I'm not sure why they are even there. Heck, last game they spent most of the second half taking picture with their buddies. (I'm in section I, so maybe it's just the people in my area).

Not sure why it bugs me that they don't watch the game, but it does. Maybe I'm getting old......

Not sure what it's like in person but on TV it sure sounds quiet. They announce crowds of over 40-45k and it's still quiet. When Montreal and Hamilton can sound louder with half the people at CW then something is wrong.

I'm hereby offering to lead the fight song. I'm way better than Hall is and I know the words by heart. If anyone from the Esks reads this, PM me.

Calgary also has PA and an on-field announcer, although the on field guy seems to be not involved as much as the guy is up here...who is the Esks PA announcer?
