    Semi-final questions

    - Bombers wearing Obama shirts? Does that somehow inspire a football team in Canada? Weird choice, I thought.

    - Ricky Ray saying he never played in weather that cold before. Wasn't he playing in the 2002 Grey Cup? Wasn't that colder?

    - Semi-final Saturday. Did you like it? I wasn't happy at breaking the Sunday tradition but it worked out well. Is this going to be a new tradition?

    1) Odd, maybe. But not surprising. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

    2) Judging by his performance, I don't think he ever showed up for the '02 Grey Cup game.

    3) Wasn't thrilled about it when I heard it early this season, but enjoyed it a lot. I think I prefer Saturday...

      1. All I can say is you never saw players with shirts that said Bush on them.
      2. I made mention of this in the GDT. He actually said he has never played in snow before and I assume the quote was taken the day before when the field was still covered in snow.
      3. Didn't like it and didn't hate it. TSN at it again though. Perhaps some of the vets can comment but were playoff games not played on Saturdays through much of the 80s and early 90s?

I didn't mind the Saturday thing game....was a refreshing change actually. I've always thought of the game as being a "weekend" game so it didn't really phase me that it was Sat instead of Sun.
As far as the Obama shirts? I was saying WTF too....not sure what they were thinking on that one.
I thought the 02 game was way colder....maybe it's just that he wasn't used to playing in November anymore...

Nice to see the Bomber recievers took time out of their preperation to focus on getting on ESPN instead. Worked out real well.....

I like the Saturday games. That way I can watch football all weekend, instead of just all sunday. I don't have to miss NFL games, the CFL is wise not to compete with the NFL, even if it regular season vs. playoffs.

I have wanted Saturday playoff games for as long as I have been legal drinking age...

Showing Obama's name wasn't a ploy to motivate the team but a means of American players to show their support for the presidential candidate. Silly, IMO.

I prefer Sunday games. However, this one was fine, as if the game had been played 24 hours later we don't know the result would have been the same.

It sounds like a distraction then.

I think Diesel had it right. They wanted some US airtime.

I wonder if the league will crack down on this? Showing support for an injured team mate is one thing, but political statements is another.

While the Obamamania is popular around the world right now, there might be some more controversial leaders or policies endorsed.

I liked watching the early game as well. Going to an 11am game is another story, but as far as watching goes, the game was done early enough to have the rest of the afternoon free.

I have no problem with the Saturday games actually. I got up, watched football all morning and afternoon and then switched to hockey. Center Ice is great.

Ahhhh what a Saturday it was.

Take a look at his stats, he threw for 450-500 yards. He had a great game. We just turned the ball over at the wrong time and didn't kick any field goals.

AC on the other hand passed for something like 80 yards, most of it on one broken play that cost us the game.

Don't hold me to being exact in the yards, but when you look at the stats for the 2002 game it was really a shame we didn't win.

I thought it was funny too when TSN reported that then I saw the actual interview during the game, RR stated he didn't play much in the cold or snow. Which is for the most part true, it has been a long time since we have seen snow in CW.

He was misquoted because TSN said he had stated he never played in the snow. Typical media getting things wrong.

Wow, you just love to pull numbers out of your ass, huh?

Ray threw for 324 yards and only put up 16 points. Not good enough, IMO.

                            Calvillo threw for 260 yards.

Isn't that the game where both John Avery and Sean Fleming were injured, so we couldn't run or kick field goals? Didn't Avery get injured in the Western Final and Fleming pulled something in practice in preparation for the Cup, or something like that, so he couldn't kick field goals further than about 10 yards? Avery played, but he was totally ineffective - kind of like he was in Toronto.
