    Big Game's Back

Esks welcome back Malvin Hunter to coaching ranks

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announced today that Malvin Hunter has been added to the coaching staff and will be responsible for special teams. Hunter had most recently spent time with the University of Richmond as a defensive assistant and the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League in 2002.

This marks the return of Hunter who spent the 2001 season with the club coaching the defensive line. Prior to his role of coach, Malvin played eight seasons for the Green and Gold (1993-’00) and was a dominant force on the defensive line earning the nickname “Big Game”. The three-time West Division All-Star (’96, ’97, ’98) played in 132 games for the club and ranks eighth on the team’s all-time defensive tackles list (323) and fourth on the sack list (66).

In 1998, Hunter was the Eskimos’ nominee as Outstanding Player and Outstanding Defensive Player. The graduate of the University of Wisconsin played in two Grey Cups and was a member of the Esks’ 1993 championship team.

“This is a tremendous addition to our staff and I am excited about what Malvin will bring to our special teams unit,” said head coach Danny Maciocia.

Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

I know where you're going with that... if Mal is ST... and Kep is still around as D Line coach, but not DC... then you're thinking that Rick Campbell is likely headed for the DC seat.

DM, RDL and RC (the leagues smallest and least imposing looking coaches) need Kep and Big Game to 'back them up'!

(while O Line Coach MacDermott just makes everybody feel good and nobody knows who Dan MacKinnon even is!)

I wish he were still young enough to play.

                        I welcome his back!

But, like others, this makes me uneasy as to who the D-coord is going to be ...as soon as I saw that, it's not hard to put two and two together to figure it out.
