    Rookie Hall

Just some friendly advice being a first time heach coach and all....

You don't give up two points for nothing when your punt coverage hasn't given up 10 yards total in returns. Especially considering zebras in this league WILL screw us over at some point in a game, in this case for 4 points!

Had it been the 6 points then we are still in a very comfortable position late in the game.

    Congrats on the win Richie

Yeah, that was a real head scratcher... the way the teams were moving the ball at that point you might as well kick it and at least make them do something for a 3 rather then gift them 2.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

We gave up 2, kicked and held them to less than a 5 yard return and a two and out.

Dumb! Never give up points when you're excelling at that part of the game. We let it come down to a missed FG instead of putting the game in the hands of our players. With DM that was a weekly thing, I hope for hall it's a learning experience...

First time in a long time that I've seen a safety given up when the punter was standing at the 10, the game was scoreless and looking to be tight, the opposition has a FG kicker that hasn't been stellar and there wasn't much of a wind that they'd be kicking into. Throw in the factors that you've mentioned as to the job the cover team was doing, and it's a tough one to understand.

I would have to think that Hall will be questioned about it in the week to come and would be curious as to how he answers.

There's no telling what would've happened if he hadn't gone that way, but for now, I'm just thankful that it worked out okay, with the field position situation coming out of that leading to the Bombers giving up two of their own.

Don't use the 3 man defence so often.

Brilliant call and excellent timing by our coach at the end of the game. He won us the game at that point.

Yeah, that rule change to move the kick-off back to the 25 after giving up 2 points has really cut down on the number of safeties being given up.

That call pissed me off but some of Pres punts looked like line drivers. Maybe they were worried about a bad punt.

It worked better on Wednesday - Calgary chose to punt from their endzone rather than concede, and IIRC either MTL or TOR punted from their 5 or something at one point on that day as well.

I didn't like giving up the safety either. It wasn't necessary. While some of Pre's punts were line drives those were ones when he was kicking south to north.

What I did like was the fact that our defense hadn't given up any points until the fourth quarter.
