These aren't your daddy's Ticats. They are playing well. Always a tough game in steeltown but I like the fact they are playing good football as it doesn't give us the built in letdown factor. We'll be playing our second good team in as many weeks and will need another effort like we saw last night.

Re: Up next: Ticats
Vegas will have the line with the Esk's winning by more than 3, but less than 7, and I'm going to be on it like a fat kid on cake..."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Re: Up next: Ticats
we never play well in the hammer, regardless of the cats record, we broke that mould last year.. and i think the cats actually playing well.. will have us more focused and KNOW were in for a game instead of ih, its just the ti-cats mentality we have had for quite a while...
if were gonna win the west, we gotta just take care of business in these games..

Re: Up next: Ticats
I can't help that the Esks will feel a bit complacent. Rarely has the team been consistent and if they start out slow like every 1st quarter they may not be able to recover.
If RR gets max protection then it will be a different story. If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

I'm not sure where people get this "we never play well in Hamilton" type commentary. only in the past few years have we struggled there - but newsflash, we struggled in other parks as well. When I moved to ON in 95 I could count on seeing the Esks win in Hamiltong regularly - and they did. The "troubles" only started a couple of years ago. (Ditto for Toronto.)
These are different teams and the past will not dictate the outcome of next week's game. I'd wager that fans and the media put way more stock (too much IMO) in this type of rear-view mirror thinking than the coaches and players do.
Any and all road games have their unique challenges that come with the parks visited. That much is true. Be it fan heckling, time zone changes, environmental conditions, etc. But still only if teams were to remain completely and totally unchanged - in personnel and skill levels - would history have such significance.
So... with all that said. The key for the game against the Tabbies?
Just win baby!!Turf Toe:
- "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
- "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
- "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

There's been too much changeover in our roster over the past few years to have "we don't play well in this ballpark" stuff in their heads. There might be a few veterans that have some emotional scars from games they should've won in the Hammer or stompings that they've taken in Regina, but I can't honestly see that impacting.
Stay with the basics of what's worked well, and continue to evolve and add wrinkles. I like our run defence strength against their running strength and the LOS battle between out improving OL and a pressure-generating Ham DL.Life is Good.

Re: Up next: Ticats
Cobb has been the focal point for their offense the last couple games - not that they aren't dangerous through the air as well - but our run D has been stellar. Slow down Cobb, put up an early lead and make them pass. Confuse Porter enough and we might even see Glenn who will likely give up a couple ints for our secondary (finally)."Because this Eskimo experience is not made for just anyone" - KP

Stopping Cobb will be important, but I dont think we can forget about the passing game. I'm sure they'll try using AB III more than they did in BC now that he's had a chance to learn the playbook. Think what you want about the antics with the Argo's, he can still catch a ball
