I'm rather confused. Perhaps he was too expensive to keep as a back-up, and they think Fiaconni is just better.

so after Calgary signs him will we trade our first round draft pick to get him back?
Maciocia is so stupid it makes me want to choke him...
between trading Tsoumpras for him, then letting Mcgrath go and then trade a first rounder to get him back, we gave up two picks plus two more on kickers for nothing..except a kicker we could have signed 4 months later as a UFA
      absolutely maddening

You said it! Dumbest move after Hugh hiring DM. I guess on the bright side we are not Argo fans...how their management keeps their jobs is beyond me...but that's another thread.

I think that most people around here recognize, as you have stated above, that DM has done a very poor job in handling the Canadian draft. Not to worry though, because according to the DM fans (including those that have been banned and continue to post under their other aliases, thinking that no one would recognize the style) the draft is just a "crap shoot" anyway so trading away the first round picks is moot point. The probability of drafting a quality Canadian in the fifth round is just as high as drafting one in the first round so there is no need to worry about something so trivial.

I am confused as well. I agree his salary might be a little high for a backup maybe his knee has not healed as it should or they believe Wojt, Hinse, or Rodgers will be a starter next year.

The guy is only 29. Money is the only possible reason I see for this move.

I still don't really like it, though.

I'm quite certain the 'move' is a salary cap based one. How we got there now is simply horrendous asset management v3.?

                  Challenger for Tsoumpas????

What a joke. DM has no clue what he is doing.

Was it possible that the brilliant chess-master could have held on to Comiskey until the draft and then peddled him to another team for a draft pick

nope. that's what other teams do... you know the ones with GMs who actually know what they're doing.
