    Esks Add 3 to roster

    May 19, 2010

    Edmonton Eskimos
    ESKS.com Staff

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed import defensive back Gary Albury and non-import defensive ends Marc-Antoine Beaudoin-Cloutier and Neil Puffer, the club announced today.

Albury played three years at Morgan State Universty. The Florida native registered 56 defensive tackles, five pass knockdowns, two interceptions and one forced fumble in 11 games during his senior year.

Over 28 games with the Laval Rouge et Or Marc-Antoine accumulated 52 defensive tackles, 12.6 quarterback sacks, four pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was named a QUFL Defensive All-Star in 2008 and 2009 as well as a CIS Second Team All-Star in 2008.

Puffer recorded 67 tackles, 11.5 quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles in 36 career games with the Queen’s Golden Gaels. He was a two-time Orrin Carson Award winner as the Gaels’ top defensive lineman and was the top rookie in 2004.

Question -- Does anybody know if any players were signed as a result of the multiple free agent camps that the Eskimos conducted over the past several weeks?

Well, it just wouldn't be an Eskimo camp without a new guy from Laval. That being said, I had heard the name of Two-Dash (or MABC, if you prefer) before, so he isn't a complete nobody.

Well I know nothing of these 3..

But I'm guessing that the ni status of two if em makes em shrewd signings,

Also wouldn't be camp if we didn't have someone with a last name like Puffer showing up. I thought we were already over the limit for bodies at TC?

I could be wrong but I think we are sitting around 69 players right now. Not sure how Wuthrich counts because I think he still has jr. eligibility left. The two Cdns. announced today ,Puffer and Cloutier, don't count since they are first year Cdns. Plus on the Esks roster they have mistakenly listed Borhot as an import.

Puffer is only 6'4" 230 too small for a D-End but not bad for a backup LB maybe.I thought he was bigger but he is fast and seemed to be able to get consistent pressure on QB's. Puffer played with Ukwuoma and Sterling at Queens maybe Dee put in a good word for him.

6'4" 230lbs sounds not too bad for a CFL speed rusher or special teamer

They're looking to push Cooper as a backup and teamer

Pascal Fils sounds good although I would love us to sign Mike Montoya. Montoya is a fire hydrant and a good blocker as well. In a year or two when Bert and Bell decide to hang up the pads he could have a long career here.
