    Safety...

Richardson is on the 9-game. Nugent is apparently our only other option unless we choose to throw a green Borhot into the position. We have the ability to use an Import at safety with some re-arranging on the offense. So when do we look at that? Or is that even on the table?

They are totally insane if they do not do it next game, they should have done it before the season started. Half of us dummies on this forum could see that it was a monumental weakness.

I know they will not do anything different because coaches are a stubborn lot that hate to immediately make changes even if it is the obvious thing to do but it should happen immediately.

Safety is the weakest position on the team. Nugent is not a good enough Safety. He had many chances to make plays but was either too slow or took the wrong angle. I hope we can start an import there the next game too.

We knew this before the season kicked off!

Is nugent really that much better than okpro?

Were we really throwing all our safety eggs at Richardson??

Nowhere in the league, which is a pretty strong indicator that the rumours of him being a locker room cancer are true.

Okpro never really got a chance with the Esks although he is still hanging around waiting by the phone. Speaking of the phone, DM ought to consider giving Scott Gordon a call this week to see whether or not he has something better to do than coming back to the Esks.

D only aloud one score. We should get that extra import on the offensive line IMO.

Calvillo is going to pick on Nugent just like he did to Alexander last week vs. Sask., unless we change up the personnel in the secondary. It's obvious.

Difference there is that IIRC they only called ONE PI call on Alexander.....(where he could have been called multiple times).

We won't get the benefit of that....

The very first big play of the game for the Lions went right down the pipe. Despite getting beat on that play his biggest failing was total lack of speed, taking wrong angles to the ball and shying away from some contact.

Without recalling the play and without the time to go back through that game on the DVR (not sure I want to either...) but a play down the middle was the safety up at the line or shadowing a side of the field? Sometimes a big play is as much recognition of the situation as it is a failing by a player. If the safety was playing to the strong side of the field and a weakside player took advantage then it's as much the fault of the guy in coverage as it is the player that was trying to mirror what the offense was setting up.

All that to say don't throw the guy under the bus because of a single big play. Watching Samuel Joseph with Toronto the other night where five or six plays went right at him in the second half and succeeded is a guy that might not want to buy green bananas because he won't be there long enough for them to ripen.

Nugent's weakness at saftey is and will always be his foot speed. Knowing that it will be a task to try and adjust the scheme where he doesn't get isolated as often.

The ball was thrown right down the middle and Nugent was the only guy anywhere near the play and had to make the tackle I believe. He shouldn't be thrown under the bus because it was evident to many people that he is not a starting calibre safety.

I'm throwing our coaches and or GM under the bus for not having a seemingly decent back up plan at safety or not drafting the right guy to step in and play.
