Name: Almondo Sewell
College: Akron Number: 56
Height: 6-1 Weight: 280
Position: DT Pos2: FB
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2011
40 Time: 4.88 40 Low: 4.82 40 High: 4.98
Projected Round: Stock: High: FA Low: tryouts
Dates: 03/10/11
Height: 6010
Weight: 280

20 Yrd Dash: 2.83
10 Yrd Dash: 1.62 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 44

Broad Jump: 08'05"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.68
3-Cone Drill: 7.50
06/10/10 - SPRING MOVERS: DT Almondo Sewell -- Expected to be a major part of the 4-3 defense. Sewell had a solid showing in the spring game.
12/04/09 - 2009 ALL-MAC THIRD TEAM: Down Lineman - Almondo Sewell, Akron, has been selected to the Mid-American Conference Third Team for the 2009 college football season. Sewell (Trenton, N.J./Hargrave (Va.) Military Acad./Trenton Central HS) becomes just the second Zip in school history to earn All-MAC three times, joining Chris Kemme (2006, '07 & '08). The junior was a second team pick in 2007 and a third team selection in '08 and '09. This season, Sewell ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 53, including 5.5 tackles for loss, with a blocked field goal versus Indiana. At Central Michigan, Sewell had eight tackles and posted a season-high 11 tackles at Northern Illinois, tying his second-best career total. For his three-year career, Sewell has 180 tackles, including 21.5 for losses. - Akron football
09/02/09 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: Akron lost its last three games in 2008, when the Zips gave up 43, 49 and 27 points. The coaching staff worked out some the kinks after their first season with the 3-3-5 defense. The Zips must find capable players at safety to solidify the defense. PLAYERS TO WATCH: DE Almondo Sewell is ready for a big season after earning all-conference honors last year.
08/30/09 - PERSONNEL ANALYSIS, DEFENSE: Starters - DE Almondo Sewell; NT Ryan Bain; DE Joe Rash; LB Mike Thomas; LB Al-Teric Balaam; LB Sean Fobbs; CB Manley Waller; CB Miguel Graham; S Jalil Carter; S Wayne Cobham; S Tyler Campbell. The inability of the defense to stop opponents and record turnovers led to a late collapse for the Zips in 2008. The defense put up horrendous numbers in 2008, finishing 115th nationally in sacks, 90th in defense and 100th in tackles for losses. Head coach J.D. Brookhart promised some changes will be made on defense. Expect some subtle changes to the 3-3-5 defense, with the Zips utilizing more substitutions, four-man fronts and plenty of defensive backs. The potential for a turnaround is apparent due to an abundance of speedy, experienced and athletic players returning on the defensive side. Linebacker Mike Thomas, defensive tackle Ryan Bain and cornerback Miguel Graham is solid core.
07/01/09 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: This unit showed some good signs in the spring game, but then again the offense was missing most of its principals. The Zips need DE Almondo Sewell to have a huge junior campaign, including double-digit sacks. Akron looks to be a bit undersized at linebacker; however, the secondary should be much improved over last season, primarily with experience and more depth. Strong safety is a key position to be filled.

Extremely fast for a big man. Interesting although an ImportRun the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

Re: esks sign another 3
Addresses two positions we were thinking at. As Popo pointed out in another thread, with Legare out with the flu, there isn't much depth at the moment. Williams played inside some last season but Sewell is a known commodity to the coaches.
Burnett had another strong day, as did Rod Williams, but there aren't a ton of corners pushing behind them.Life is Good.
