The REAL reason we fired Tillman BEFORE the playoff game

So we can blame Reed and Rodent for the playoff loss after the playoff game and then fire them too.

Nichols should have started. Even if we lost with him, at least he would have had playoff experience to expand on next year. I'd rather lose with Nichols than struggle to win with Joseph.

Rodent should stop bragging about signing off on the RR trade, Ricky is looking pretty good today.

WTF was Boyd doing on the field when it was painfully obvious he wasn't doing SFA? Reed can't blame Tillman for that stunt. Reed has to go. Start over next year with a clean slate. It can't be any worse than what we all witnessed this season.
The Riders used to be loveable losers. Now, thanks to some of their fans, they're just losers. :P

I can't figure out that one either. Only thing I can think of is that Charles was not 100% and that they had to rest him. Despite what the commentators were saying (about the fact there was no training staff around him) means nothing if they know what's wrong with him already and he hasn't re-aggravated anything. That's all I can think of - we never know the whole story for a few days don't forget

Absolutely. Brutal. Reed hasn't ever blamed Tillman publicly for anything, but listening to his comments on the Ray trade made me sick. Especially when he gushed about Ray improving. Who did he think he was agreeing to trade away?

Bottom line is that Reed has won over many people because of his insistence on returning to the "Eskimo Way," which I also appreciate, but his roster management and sideline meltdowns have been questionable at best, leading me to think he's in over his head.

I will be disgusted if he gets the GM job, and really disappointed if he remains HC.

        Should be an interesting off-season.

Reed is still a rookie HC. He'll learn from his mistakes. If not he will be gone after next year.

Rookie HC? No. That was last year. Keeping Boyd and Joseph in that long is on him. Poor coaching moves.

So he still only has limited experience or is that dumb.

Re: The REAL reason we fired Tillman BEFORE the playoff game

We were badly out coached the entire season.
Reed: poor lineup choices- Joseph over Nichols
Boyd dressed. Running backs mismanaged during the game
I am starting to believe that kavis's long winded blathering answers and explanations are a covering for trying to justify his decisions to himself and are sounding like bullshat. Getting tired of them and they really sound disingenuous.

Crandel: poor offensive strategy and execution. Too many time count penalties. Team looked confused when Joseph was in. Players were unsure what to do. Team looked more organized when Nichols was in.
Prinsen: offensive line never improved during the entire season. Protection was an issue all season. No adjustment or proper preparation to a Chris jones defense. He plays a high pressure speed defense. He was the same in Calgary but the line looked confused and unable to adjust.
Defense which at times seemed to rather run into ball carriers instead of tackling properly and wrapping up or flying into a tackle and the ball carrier stepping aside and the defender misses and is now out of the play.

Unless you can replace him by an A+ coach like Kent Austin. I think you go with stability. There is so much work to do on your team. Might not be the right time to throw more turmoil in the mix.

True, but he is no GM ... if they hire him as the GM / HC a lot more of the fan base including me will say forget as the team will be in the wilderness with no map.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.

Re: The REAL reason we fired Tillman BEFORE the playoff game

I'm for keeping Reed for one more year. After next season, if it's more of the same crap, then it's time to show him the door. I think with the fact we need to find a GM now, it's probably better just to search for a person to fill one position instead of having to find two people to fill two positions (unless you want to kill two birds with one stone and have one person play the role of GM and HC), notwithstanding some of the changes that need to be made with players in the offseason.

After Nichols went out and Joseph came back in, I couldn't help but notice Jyles was dressed and they still didn't let him go out and play. Hopefully he figures out how much he's worth to the team by now.

Reed has seemed all year in grossly over his head. Terrible game plans, no adjustments whatsoever and the sideline often appears to be chaotic. I think they should take the opportunity to completely clean house and not leave any dirty work to the new GM
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I still haven't renewed my season tickets for exactly this reason.

I can't really support Reed as the HC again next season. This last game featured way, way too many head shaking coaching decisions to give me confidence he should be the guy going forward.

I was actually offended hearing him say the trade was about building for the future (more than once) while continuing to start Joseph and refusing to pull him till the games are out of reach.
He has proven unable to make adjustments to the game plan time and again, he is constantly more likely to go away from what is working (Hugh Charles in ESF as an example)
It's nice that the player's like playing for him, I bet they'd like winning even better.
PLEASE do not feed the trolls!
