    Speculation of Eskimo FA interests

So I wonder who we are going to be picking up once Free Agency comes on the 15th.

I am going to say that we will be making a pitch for BC OT Olafioye and/or Tor OT Perrett.

Also wondering if we send MacPherson a low contract offer. I mean if the price is right then why not. Can't be any worse than Joseph, or maybe he would be not knowing the system.

Who else do we go after in FA?

    Let the speculation begin!

Olafioye will likely re-sign, or chase NFL aspirations. Perrett (from MTL not TOR) is a likely target, although CGY will be chasing him as well. No chance they go for McPherson, no bloody chance.

No doubt in my mind they are going for Perrett. Not sure we'll get him but man that would solve a lot of problems.

I hear Olafioye has to take a very strong blood pressure med and that this is likely why he will get no NFL contract offers. I'm sure the Lions hope he returns . Perrett is the one I would like here but I'm just wondering if signing him throws our Oline pay scale way out of balance. Rumor was Labatte signed for about 170,000.last year and you would think Perrett is just as valuable.

Signing two or three of our own FA's might be a better way to go. Ed has come up with some surprises already and maybe he has his eye on some lesser known players. Just as long as there are no more Riders. They always arrive here with tire tracks all over them from getting thrown under the bus at Rfans.

McPherson makes no sense. You either have an experienced guy like Joseph as #3 or a project. McPherson is neither of those.

I read about Green Bay failing him on the physical, but (granted it was the player's interpretation) there was apparently talk that other teams with a more pressing need would likely view the risks associated with his medication differently and the GB staff figured that someone would take a flyer on him. Hope it works out for him, as he's got a good amount of talent and it would be a shame to be held back due to that.

He could even end up here, iirc he played LT his first year in BC and RT last year. Very true about how teams look at players differently from a medical perspective. I remember us signing Brett MacNeil from the Bombers years ago and the EE doctors not passing his medical and him then playing another year or so for Wpg. Knee problems I seem to recall.

I guess Ed will also look at "if they want to be here". You have to believe that's a factor in their signing as well. Unless of course we trade for them.

-sounds like Olafioye will return to BC (deal in place) if he can't land in the NFL

As for Eskimos interest, I guess it depends on if they resign Brown and Thompson before then, in terms of roster holes to fill. Depends on how much stock they put into other DB guys still under contract (Ricks, Prude, practice roster addition Bryan Williams, or any rookie). Maybe they will look at an Evan McCullough out of Toronto to fill a hole?

Of the Eskimos free agents I expect to see Julius Williams, Thompson, Brown, and Marcus Henry all generate some interest.

I would not close the book on getting ex-Riders as long as they are of high quality and not the dregs Sonic was interested in. There are some Riders I would not mind signing like Dressler but of course they are under contract.

                    A. McPherson would not be wise to sign here anyway as he would be #3.

I hope they re-sign Thompson and Weldon Brown. That would leave a big hole in the secondary if they didn't. As it stands it is late so chances are they are going to test the FA market that we all agree on.

Sounds like Ed is working towards re-signing Thompson so we may hear something soon on that front.
I bet we go hard after Perrett and I bet we end up getting him too.

It sounded like they've targeted a few players so we'll have to wait and see what comes of it next Friday.

From Ed's interview on the Team the other day, he intimated that some of the names they could be chasing may not exactly be of the well known variety.

I think that aside from re-signing some of our own guys, that Parrett can be the only sure fire one we will be chasing hard.

Secondary targets (higher profile): Brackenridge, Bulcke, Newman

Dark Horses: Guy, Kashama, Dewit, Turner
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

I would love to get Bulcke back from the atrocious DM trade. That guy is fierce.
