Labour Day Rematch: Post game Thoughts.

Well another loss ( big surprise) .

Ya know what all, I'm just so ****ing tired of seeing this **** game in and game out. Games at CW suck. Everything about it sucks. There's no fun. Theres no anything. I long for the day of how it was for me in the late 80s and 90s. This entire organization is in complete shambles. EVERYTHING is wrong. Right from the replays on the scoreboard - to the PR - to the product on the field. It ****ing pains me to see this beloved franchise being repeatedly flushed thru the ****ter. IMO the damage Pervie did is deeper than any of actually thing. But alas that isn't the sole reason why everything is wrong. Its a major factor but hardly the only one. Can it be fixed ? Sure, in time it can be - repairing this franchise is not a quick fix. We need the right people in every area to right the ship. Despite the rookie mistakes being made, I still fully support Hervey. He's got one hell of a tough job ahead of him. Personally I do not see one coach worth keeping. IMO we still need some other football minds up in admin. Ketchup boy go away.

As for the game, what really needs to be said anymore.. Its all the same ****. Game in and game out. I'm tired. Before some of you say, Oh you're quitting on the Esks- no I'm not.. i'm just tired of this, as I expect many of you are also. I just hope those that we trust to right the ship will do so soon. It sucks to say this but , I'm really glad my father, who died in April 2012, isn't around to see this **** either. Ticket holder for 40+ years massive Esks fan - this.. this would have been too much for him.

SO no game thoughts from me.....just right it soon!....

:edit note: At least I got all my Calendars I needed to get ( really the real reason why I went )

****. IT SUCKS BEING AN ESKS FAN RIGHT NOW.

It was, without mincing words, a ******* embarassment of a football game. I will reserve any other thoughts until I review it all over again.

Not a good birthday present, huh?

Likely the most disappointing game of the year.

You see these glimpses of the team legitimately pulling up their socks...the. Lo and behold they shoot themselves in the foot.

There actually was some signs of attack from the defense. The DBs weren't playing 15 yards off the ball. We had some sacks, ran some stunts and twists, heck...we even had an interception.

Offense though never got on track...then when we do, either White drops a pass inside the 5, or we can't hit a 30 yard FG. When we do get some protection, Reilly runs into tackles outside the pocket. We get an opening deep, and Chambers drops it. Get some decent field position, we take a penalty, then allow a sack.

Just awful. There seems to be absolutely no focus.

Well I would say that the Eskimos delivered what I expected them to. Defence played well except when they had to. Offensive line that can't block, dropped passes, missed field goals, poor punting and just plain boring football.

It is pretty clear that Kavis Reed is no Ray Jauch and I don't expect him to ever be. Does anyone have expectations of this team being able to rattle off consecutive wins? I don't.

I'm hoping that Ed Hervey is learning many lessons right now and one of them is to not get goaded by the media. The media are not your friends.

I almost wish that this franchise could take a years leave of absence to right itself....
Never gonna happen obviously but I intend to do so next season after being a ST holder since 1972. I don't need anymore aggravation for a long time.....

              1. 100 year old people are not supposed to look that good. That was incredible. And she looked really mobile and not hobbled in any way. She needs to write a book or get hooked up with a ghost writer.

              2. Right after she cranked that flag up I knew there was no way the game would live up to this.

              3. I still can't believe that lady was 100. It looked like she had a face lift or something. Usually on the internet you see people 100+ look like prunes.

Re: Labour Day Rematch: Post game Thoughts.

Can't blame this on the refs. Sure there were missed calls. Middle of the 4th quarter I clearly saw 62 Stampeder mug one of our guys on the 55-45 yard line. If I could see it on the second deck then... The refs didn't cost us anything this game. We deserved to lose.

I can't believe 18 missed those kicks. Maybe one bad miss, but two? Well there you go that's the type of season we have going.

Esks are not making the playoffs. It's sports so no they are not mathematically out of it, but you know there is at least one game coming in which they are just going to quit or be deflated and get blown out. They are already 4 games back of the crossover with only 8 games to go. This is it.

I had a friend who got divorced two years ago. He said in the end he was just "all emotioned out". That's kind of how I feel about the Esks. This is a sad, sorry state of affairs.

Kavis Reed deserved to get fired for starting KJ last year in the playoffs rather than Matt. Kavis is not the right guy for the job and we might as well have had a new HC every year considering the assistants keep changing every year. There has been no continuity under Kavis except for him and that's not saying much.

I'm worried that next year we are going to hear again "oh it's rebuilding" "no good non-import lineman on the market" "keep waiting be patient". Ed has 3 years to prove himself. That's enough time. There were/are a lot of holes on this team and I didn't see them addressed. So I guess we'll see whether they are addressed this off season in a more challenging environment with the expansion draft and all.

Re: Labour Day Rematch: Post game Thoughts.

i know everyone is being mega patient with ed.. but week 11

and the stamps first score subsequently comes from a muffed punt by koch..

however as much as i like cary, he has no business being back there nor burnett.. week 11 and we cant get a kr??
there has been no air lift.. do we have no money or are we saving it for other reasons??

the 2 main areas are still as prominent as they were in MAY..
if this was et he would be getting blasted.. and prob rightfully so..

1-9 is not good enough guys. it just isnt.

we can blame kav, the oline.. but it starts from the top down.. only 1 good move so far is reilly.. only one.. and i hear we have a ton of free agents next year, can see alot of those not staying around

No comment boss. But thanks for acknowledging it's my b-day. Again, this one will take a lot of looks to review, but at this point is it even worth it?

Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

Blame the coaches. I get that. But the bottom line? The on field talent is just not good enough. Where does that responsibility lie? I have been a fan since the days of Jackie Parker and with the odd exception (MR) this is the sorriest collection of pro football players I have ever seen as Edmonton Eskimos. I will ask again. Who's responsibility is that. That's what needs to be fixed first.

When it comes to our main 2 pro sports teams we in Edmonton (who are old enough) do a fair amount of pointing to the glorious past to make us feel somewhat better about the horrible present. Last night as I sat in the upper reaches of Commonwealth watching rookie John White drop a sure TD pass effectively pissing away any chance his hapless team had of winning, I wasn't thinking about all of the great former Eskimo running backs I've seen who would have caught that ball.

What was this loyal 40+ year season ticket holder thinking at that moment? "Stop punishing myself by buying tickets?" "Fire the coaches, GM, team president, board of governors, etc.?" No. My first thought at that very moment was: "Can our crappy kicker de jour make the chip shot FG to at least keep this close?". After O'Neill made it my thoughts went more big picture to "Stop kidding yourself and let the player airlift begin!". All the necessary firings can wait until the end of the season because this one's now effectively a write off.

My first year going to the games was with my dad as a 10 year old in 1971. That team started 1 and 10, brought in a bunch of NFL cuts, and won its last 5 games. Despite the terrible start and missing the playoffs, GM Norm Kimball and head coach Ray Jauch (CFL Coach of the Year in 1970) kept their jobs until the next season when the fantastic 34 season in a row playoff run (featuring 10 Grey Cups) began. I'm not saying that the current regime should get a similar pass if the Eskimos turn it around and win 5 or 6 of their remaining 8 games in 2013. Deciding about coaches and managers is what the off-season is for. The rebuilding of the currently not good enough import core of players on this roster (White, Marcel Young, TJ Hill, the o-line, etc., etc., etc.) is where it could and should begin immediately.

If the beginning of the needed fix doesn't happen right now, that's the biggest sign that we probably have the wrong GM (again!). I think Hervey's the right guy but I've been wrong before. I'm very interested to see how this plays out.
