Camp Assessment and Photos, June 7th..

A few random observations about camp today:

    - I hate to sound like a wuss but it was bloody cold out there today.

    - After watching Chris Brewer try and field a few of Flemings kick offs you can see why he is a kicker and not a kick returner.

    - Kelley had his least impressive day overall, he made a couple of nice long catches at the end but he put more balls on the ground today than the other days I watched.

    - The guys that the Esks had returning kick offs were: Tompkins, Franklin, McClendon, Kelley and Joseph. Perhaps Craver as well but I think he was sitting out today.

    - Ricky Ray as usual was excellent, reads the play quickly and gets rid of the ball just as quick on the mark. Jason Johnson looked good again. Khari Jones was far better than previous efforts as far as getting rid of the ball quicker and checking down.

    - Montford was working with Kabongo on some one on one work, looked like he was doing some fake jukes before the snap to try to pull Kabongo out of his stance. Kabongo as others have stated is big and quick but his problem is at the point of the snap, either not getting off quick and getting beat outside or leaving early and probably getting a penalty.

    - Carson seemed to be fully involved in practice today.

    - The coaches were hustling the team along at a fast pace in offense vs defense, reminding the players they only have 20 seconds.

    - In offense vs defense the o-line seemed to do a good job of run blocking but pass blocking was another story, a D-lineman was in the backfield quick on most plays.

    - One guy who is going to have a monster year if he stays healthy is Jeanty. He looks like his techniques are more refined than last year and he's quick as can be, really impressive in agility drills and was working with Bruce Beaton in some one on ones.

Noone said anything about fielding kicks now. If that were the case I would have been gone before Pasta.

Hey BF where were you? I had my leather on sitting on the bleacher.

I was at the far right hand side of the bleachers, sitting on the grass. I saw you there but I don't want to approach player nor fan for a few more days as I am just getting over a crappy bout of the flu and am still hacking and coughing. I don't want to pass on the flu to anyone (my lungs still hurt from coughing for 3 nights straight)

One more thing I forgot to say in my original post, today Dubuc looked much more like a tight end trying to come out of the backfield than a back. He looked very stiff (perhaps he has a leg injury or something). The QB quick pass to backs drill overall was very impressive. The backs caught pretty well everything. I think we are going to be seeing alot more passes to the backs this year, which is a good thing in my opinion.

Thanks for that, I forgot to mention it. I think he might be dealing with muscle soreness and the cold weather sure didn't help. Lot's of guys were trying to stay loose.

It's supposed to be 24 and variably cloudy Friday, which will be nice for them by game time .

Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.
