    Mookie one sweet cookie

Before the season I suggested that Mookie Mitchell might be near the end. My apologies, I was dead wrong. So far he has been head and shoulders the best receiver on the team and he was absolutely clutch again tonight. Worth every penny of the reported $150K salary.

Ray was brutal but showed what makes him special when he kept his composure and tossed two big ones in the dying minutes. We can't blame him for Tucker being in a fog on the long post pattern. Nice hail Mary (under pursuit) to Mitchell in the last minute. Ray will find out like all young quarterbacks that in pro-sports there are very few "gimmes."

"Gimme" a full back who can run the ball. Of course receivers are covered like a blanket all night when you only use one running back (a scatback) and never really establish anything. Blake Marshall, where art thou?

Mr. Fleming (earth to Fleming). Your presence is required on the bridge immediately. Time to tear yourself away from the holo-deck.

    Good Weekend everybody

i always wondered why no one mentioned Mookie before the season, he's a great endzone target...he's not done yet

I got faith in Wad to turn it back around quickly.

Looks like he's got that little hip problem again...the one directly linked to his head.
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

I honestly think in my mind that part of Rays problem is out O-line is so crappy. Even though we did okay in our first few drives the guy gets hit on almost every play. Our oline has to be fixed or we will never be were we want at the end of the year.

That's for sure. I have serious reservations about our running game. Sure, McClendon is good when he has some space to work with, but he's definitely not the guy who's going to get the 2 or 3 yards you need on second down.
None of our fullbacks are getting any touches. I would love to see what Dubuc can do on short yardage plays.
Although the Esks did attempt to establish a running game tonight, there's no confidence our backs can get the tough yardage. How many times do you see them throwing on 2nd and 2 or 2nd and three. You need a back that can get those yards when you need them.

As far as the kicking game goes, Wad will be fine. I really think the problem is with the timing of the unit. Taylor Inglis will be fine snapper in the long run, but until then, I think the field goal kicking will suffer. Maas had a couple of bad snaps to deal with tonight....and that has to have an affect on Flemming.

Mookie was one of the few bright spots tonight.

              7 catches for 115 yards...for Mitchell.

I said it last year....he still has the talent.

He's clutch... even if he's old, I like what he brings to the field.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Mookie is one great receiver, its nice to see Ray utilizing him at clutch times. He's nicely filling that "goto guy" which was always filled by Terry Vaughn. What's up with Tucker? Need some better routes for this guy with his speed he should be open a whole lot more often than he has been these last two games.

I have to admit I thought he might be done too. But I've really been proved wrong. He fit's in very well with Ray.

I've been saying it since Mookie came to Edmonton... he's the real deal. And I was saying not to worry about the loss of Vaughan because Mookie would fill that role easily.

I had enough time to watch Mitchell play here in Toronto to know that he was going to bring something extra to the Esks. Glad to see this is working out!

While I agree the problems start with the O-Line, I believe there are also some problems at receiver. After reading this week that the receivers were going to rebound after the 'sub-par' performance we saw in Montreal, we were treated with yet another game of mistakes and blunders. On two of Ricky's interceptions the receivers quit on the play. Hervey did not use his body to shield the DB from getting in front of him and Gaylor did not come back to his quarterback on the other. Tucker had himself another 'off day' (fumble in the red zone) and Gaylor badly misjudged a wide open throw from Ray in the endzone. If this is going to continue, it does not really matter how much time Ray gets to throw the ball...

To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, it was about the way I played the game.

I remember that one. Gaylor slowed up exactly 10 yds deep in the end zone - he has to remember the field is bigger up here.

                              Good points.
