Fight in Section G
I sit in section G at Commonwealth and thought I'd share this story from Saturday nights game against Toronto, since I had never seen it happen before in Edmonton. Only once before I had seen something like this, and that was in Los Angeles at a basketball game.
Well there was this older gentleman who was sitting there with who I presume was his wife and young daughter, and there was this overweight obnoxious guy and his friend who were teenagers. This big guy was wearing a Joe Montford jersey and got a little out of hand after Montford sacked Damon Allen in the 4th quarter. He jumped up and was yelling and swearing to celebrate it.
Well the older man got up and turned around, he grabbed the big guy by the shirt and starting chewing him out about his conduct and his language while his daughter was sitting there. It got pretty heated. And they continued verbal jabs at each other a couple more times in the next few minutes when another older gentleman leaned over and told that guy to get the ushers to remove the big guy.
So he got up and walked up the stairs in front of the media centre and the big guy and his friend followed him up. The big guy then grabbed the older guy and began to shove him and say stuff to him but I couldn't hear what was being said. I thought for sure they were about to start throwing punches at eachother.
After about 15 minutes and the older guy returning to his seat (the big guy and his friend were no longer there) those two returned to grab a bag that they left behind and the big guy leaned over and yelled some kind of threat into the older man's ear and then ran off.
I had never seen anything like it before at a game, did anybody else see this occur?
