One thing I admired in the last game

Was watching RR run and take hits. He was covered in mud at the end of the game.

On the other side of the ball we watched their QB hook-slide two yards short of a first down. If he would have stayed on his feet he'd have made the first down and not absorbed a hit. Instead he did his patented hook-slide and injured his finger in the process.

RR was remarkably tough. But players like that tend not to have long careers.

Wait, Damon Allen is STILL playing? Scratch that.

I loved RR going airborne while scrambling for that first down late in the game.

Ricky Ray needs to run MORE. You have to wonder, RR has the legs.. he can run when he wants.. he needs to keep opposing defences more honest by doing this earlier in the game when the opportunities arise. I was impressed with that first down he went for too.. going airborne, and taking a good hit. I think his leg is completely healed now.

.....he's still wearing the brace, that in itself will hamper his mobility and speed.

Still wearing it? Any idea if it will come off soon?

I sorta Agree... he had many timres where he could have scrambled for a first down..but instead he held onto the ball and was either sacked, or threw into bad coverage, or forced outtabounds.... I'd like to see Ray roll out more.. he generally seems to have good success with that

IMO, Ricky was trying: 1. To do all he can to pull out a win, 2. To inspire his mates to do the same, particularly the guys were had been waving at the D-linemen as they passed by on their way to the QB. He was trying to lead by example.

I imagine he'll wear it all season now. But that was definitely a gutsy play from Ray.

The other thing that I admired, even though our running game wasn't spectacular, we actually, for once, didn't call a QB sneak on a 1 yard play. And though we were deep in our own end, we actually called two running plays in a row.
The times when we called running plays, in situations where we usually would not, we fooled Calgary's D-line. I want to see more of that.

Actaully he hurt his finger when he started to take off and put his left hand down to keep himself from falling.

I did a double take when I saw that! He's got some balls, I just hope he doesn't make a habit out of those plays.

We've had plenty of QBs who are willing to take a hit.

Maas isn't afraid to take or dish out a hit and Tracy Ham use to run and absorb allot of hits.
