Re: Good Effort, Eskimos
That was a close game. Weird coaching decisions on both sides.
The western semi home feild advantage will come down to the last week. First place is already decided.Second place doesn't mean that much this year. B.C. is head and shoulders above the rest of the teams right now.

Re: Good Effort, Eskimos
Not really underachieving. They just have a huge achilles heel at tailback. They're too one dimensional. Teams are taking the deep ball away now and leaving you basically running the Riders playbook.
Figure out the running game and you'll finish second. If not looks more like third or cross over. It's that simple.Second place doesn't mean that much this year. B.C. is head and shoulders above the rest of the teams right now.

Re: Good Effort, Eskimos
Not to nitpick, but.... the Eskimos lost last week to Calgary and this week to the Roughriders but are somehow a much better team? There's really no evidence to suggest that conclusion.Originally posted by BeerfishThe Riders are mediocre, Crandell is a suspect QB, the Esks lost to a team that can't beat anyone other than losers like the Bombers and Hamilton. Good effort? By about 6 or 7 players, the Eskimos are grossly under acheiving.

I do agree 100%.
We have now lost three games we should not have. Two were hugely the coach’s fault, this one was partially coaching.Placing the Alberta Flag on the Calgary Flames uniform is akin to putting lipstick on a Pig

SSK - 84 pts divided by 7 losses = avg loss margin of 12 pts/game.Originally posted by Ridergirl..and so have the Riders, against Ottawa, BC and Toronto.
4 closest losses: 1 @ TOR, 4 vs BC, 5 vs OTT, 5 @ OTT. (3.75 pts per game)
EDM - 19 pts divided by 5 losses = avg loss margin of 3.8 pts/game.
4 closest losses: 1 @ SSK, 3 @ MTL, 4 vs TOR, 5 vs CGY. (3.25 pts per game)
SSK has been blown to the moon twice, @ CGY and @ MTL.
Esks haven't lost by more than 6 all year.
It could be argued that Esks have lost 5 games we could very much have won.
Though I think that there is only 3 we should have won...today (ST's), @ MTL (ST coverage), and vs TOR (3 big plays due to missed tackles). The games in BC (Printers factor) and vs CGY (no offence period) looked closer than they were

Re: Good Effort, Eskimos
The law of averages says the Esks are due to be blown out by a team soon unfortunately. I think that might be a good way to lose and it reallly forces the coach to change things. Close losses give a false impression that you are close but if you fail to beat the teams you should they are still lossses no matter what the margin.Originally posted by gizmo fan 2SSK - 84 pts divided by 7 losses = avg loss margin of 12 pts/game.

And yeah, while I'm happy we've been in every game, I think you're right in that a blowout would mean a major shakeup of things.
Hmmmmmmmm...maybe TO would blow us out on Thanksgiving. That would get everyone good and mad and motivated going into the last 3 divisional games (2 at home).
Or, at least, I hope it would.
