(Edmonton) The defending Grey Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos today announced that all-star defensive back Malcolm Frank has re-signed with the club. Long considered one of the league’s premier cover-men, Frank is heading into his eighth season with the Esks and tenth in the CFL.
In 2005, the Baylor University product appeared in 17 regular games, recording 53 defensive tackles, 2 special teams stops, 2 pass knockdowns and 1 interception. Frank was stellar in the post-season with six defensive tackles in the CFL West Championship and four defensive tackles and one pass knockdown in the Edmonton’s Grey Cup victory over Montreal.
Eskimo Head Coach Danny Maciocia says “Malcolm Frank is a consummate pro, an intelligent player who quietly goes about his job and delivers results game in and game out”.
Great news. This guy is awesome, and age just doesn't seem to affect him. Plus, while he is here he can teach some younger guys what it means to cause misery and sorrow to offenses.
I am somewhat surprised. Not because I don't like Malcom, in fact the opposite is true, he's been a great pro, but methinks Malcom has been worked into the salary structure (ie paycut) to make this work. I still expect Craver to win the starting job at camp if he shows what he did down the stretch.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood
