Maas game-time decision, Hervey having surgery!

    Maas a game time decision

Sportsnet.ca -- The Edmonton Eskimos will decide shortly before game time Thursday whether quarterback Jason Maas will play against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg, Marty York reports.

Maas will dress and will be in the lineup, but he won't know if he can play until he tests his sore throwing shoulder a few minutes before kickoff, according to head coach Tom Higgins.

Maas was injured last Sunday when he took a hit from the Toronto Argonauts' Jonathan Brown. If Maas can't play Thursday, Bart Hendricks will start at QB for the Eskimos.

York also reports that Edmonton's star receiver, Ed Hervey, will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will be out for at least three weeks.

Hervey out that long? Oh poo!

They showed Maas at practice today he said his arm and hand felt kind of weak. It will be a real mystery as to who will start. Higgins is conservative and cautious I bet he starts Hendricks and will only put Maas in if we get behind.

That's exactly what I'm thinking will happen, too.

It's too bad about Hervey being out that long, but I'm sure that the other guys will compensate for his absence. Look for Ralph and Tucker to see more balls in the next few games.

We'll miss Hervey, but not that much with our receiving corps. More balls for Mitchell, and obviously Brock Ralph is no slouch. Hell, Ralph may be the best Canadian pass catcher in the league after Clermont. OK, Cahoon is better, too. But I'd take Ralph over Morreale and Stoddard and Corey Grant.
Taylor Field. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Come on people YORK is reporting this, so ya know not believe it 100%. Its now known Hervey will not require surgey as its not as bad as it orginally thought, Hervey is listed as week to week at worse.

heres a little clip thats in todays paper:

HERVEY HAS MRI: Wide receiver Ed Hervey had an MRI on his right knee and may not be lost to the Green and Gold for as long as initially feared.

Surgery on the meniscus may not be required and his status was upgraded to week-to-week. Hervey was injured during Sunday's loss and shipped back to Edmonton from Winnipeg. With Hervey out of the mix, non-import Brock Ralph starts in his spot.

And this morning listening to the Sports report on CHED said surgery won't be needed, but I will wait till i hear that more times before i breathe a big sigh of relief

This will be a great chance for Ralph to gain so valuable experience....hopefully he can step it up.

Hervey is a dangerous weapon. But the Esks are blessed with receivers.

                    Not so QB's.
