    TC May 29

Caught the second session with EL and later joined by Drew.

Cuts: OL Matt Miller left camp and is suspended, LB Neil Ternovatsky has been released.

Walking wounded: Woodcock, Nugent (he took part in the morning) Tompkins, Kabongo, Bisallion, Loftus, Inglis (morning session), Bertrand, Dubuc, and Spencer.

Malcom Frank got caught up with Mookie on a passing drill and sat out the second session with what looked to be a sore hip or lower back.

Scary moment when MLB Antico Dalton went down hard with what appears to be a rolled ankle. Hopefully it's not too serious. I think he got caught up with OL Longchamps as he was limping afterwards.

Nowacki struggled with a sore quad.

Spotted: Steven Marsh made his first appearance at camp but as expected did not participate.

DL Dorsette Davis struggled with what appears to be a bout of flu perhaps as he woofed his cookies on the sidelines and did not look well.

WR Richard Alston picked his game up today with a solid effort. Gaylor had a case of the dropsies and even Tucker missed an easy one.

Serious Oline discussion took place with the entire group determining who was left or right handed. After a week in they are running out of things to talk about.

Tim Fleiszer had a great session today and was very strong off the edge. Braidwood also looked very good inside today.

LB Reggie Myles had one of his best days with 1 INT and a dropped sure INT against Ray. Durden, Williams, and Craver also looked strong again today.

DE Sherrod Coates showed a good nose for the ball in run .

Coach Kep was in a foul mood for most of the session letting loose with verbal tirades against his group. Loved it

OL Tim O'Neill had a rough go at scrimmages getting beat twice.

JJ looks to be rounding back into form as his throws were once again crisp and he made good reads.

KJ today helped the receivers work on the ir agility by throwing numerous balls at their feet to which finally CC gave him a verbal kick in the arse.

RB's vs LB blocking drills had Diedrick once again all fired up. Goldie fared better this time, Bradley did not. Winkle once again looked good in the blocking drills. Maurer was also solid.

WR Romeo had a shaky outing but did have one nice deep catch in scrimmage.

Jyles was back throwing well but one could tell he had missed time as his decisions weren't as sharp and he held onto the ball longer than previous.

Both Wad and Williams had a decent day with FG's. Wad was routine from 47 yards. Williams had a lower trajectory but did ok.

Funny moment: Smoke Dixon singing the Alabama fight song at the line of scrimmage seconds before the snap.

3 count 'em THREE screen passes today running the camp total to SIX!!! Overheard at the line before the third was " Black 80! Black 80! Fish, hut!"

    okay..........now how PERFECT is that?
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

I hope Rod Williams pushes Sean hard. I really like what I'm hearing about this guy.

I forgot that TC had even started until I see Diez's reports on here.

Great report, some good things and some areas of concern that's for sure. Marsh was actually there yesterday for fan day. The athletic therapist had him punching a bag with boxing gloves but no lower body work. Kepley had been more fiery this camp than last, he has been barking up a storm lately. I think as camp wears on guys start to lose focus a bit, nothing like a good tongue lashing to snap you out of it.

Miller sure didn't last long, always tough to come into camp late.

Ternovatsky aquitted himself really well in this camp I thought. He was a linebacker for U of A but worked out at safety. I was pretty certain he was not going to make it but he gave it a really good effort and did not look out of place out there.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the kicking duties this year and if they are willing to chew up an extra roster spot to keep both?

Does anyone know what's wrong with Dubuc?

The cool weather had led to a rash of pulled muscles and the esks aren't taking any chances. I believe it's the case with Dubuc

SECOND appearance at camp . He was there Sunday, too.
edit: Never mind, Beerfish pointed that out.

                  Good summary, Diez.

Insert dirty juvenile double entendre joke here
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

dunno, since he left camp and wasn't cut, perhaps he wasn't willing to fight for a job?

How badly to injuries hurt your chances of making a team? On the one hand...you need to evaluate talent and you can't do that if a guy is too injured to play.

On the other hand, you'd hate to cut a guy 'cause he strained a muscle and can't compete for T.C. only ... only to find out that he's a dominant player after you cut him and another team picks him up when he's healthy!!

ESKIMO TRAINING CAMP NOTES - DAY 9

Practice Hurts: DB Malcolm Frank collided with SB Mookie Mitchell during the first practice session, causing the defensive back to leave practice with a hip pointer injury. In another incident DE Antico Dalton suffered an ankle sprain in today’s drills.

QB Steven Jyles arrived to practice late today, only to receive an ovation from his teammates as he was being congratulated on his marriage to wife Ashley. Jyles returned to Monroe, Louisiana for the nuptials and then got back on a plane for Edmonton.

Best Nickname: U of A standout Jarred Winkel has turned some heads with his hard running style, and he’s even earned a nickname. SB Mookie Mitchell says the rookie RB is known as ‘Mini-Me’, but also answers to “ Barney Rubble”.

OL Matt Miller has left camp and been placed on the suspended list. The Eskimos have also released non-import LB Neil Ternovatsky.

The following players did not take part in today’s sessions:

                              Mathieu Bertrand – (groin)
                              Nicolas Bisaillon – (hamstring)
                              William Loftus – (shoulder)
                              Steve Marsh – (knee)
                              Jason Nugent – (leg)
                              Randy Spencer – (calf)
                              Pat Woodcock – (hamstring)
                              Tony Tompkins – (calf)
                              Patrick Kabongo – (knee)
