Are we in too much of a rush to replace guys who are perceived as "old"?

It looks like Maciocca is with all of the moves he's been making. But the thing is, if he doesn't make the playoffs, or if the esks just barely squeek in, he'll be fired, and his plan for '07 will be over.

DM had to make changes from last year due to some players getting long in the tooth. The problem is he hasn't made the right changes!! Cut Brady,Collier and Montford but keep Fleming, Charboneua, and Woodcock???????? The coaching staff/management has made some horrific decisions early on in the season that will undoubtedly come back and bite the whole team in the ass!! Bringing back Montford is an indictment into the incompetance of DM (not to mention his terrible play calling). Joe never shoulda got cut in the first place!!

Except that the Eskimos must of done it corrrectly, or Joe would not of returned to the Eskimos. Think of the value plus that you now have with Montford, although you lost 3 games worth of his play. I wonder where the Eskimos sit within the league as to average age on the roster. By having a younger lineup, you may get more production in the early part of the year, whereas the older guys pace themselves for the playoff run. Wally has rid himself of aging vets, and seemed to start off quickly, then taper as the season went along, perhaps it isn't the best route to go.

Except that the Eskimos must of done it corrrectly, or Joe would not of returned to the Eskimos. Think of the value plus that you now have with Montford, although you lost 3 games worth of his play. I wonder where the Eskimos sit within the league as to average age on the roster, most other teams seem to retool a little sooner, at least the upper half of the league.

I think a lot of people underestimate how much work has already been done in regards to planning for the future.

We've had a huge turnover the last two years in pretty much all positions except for the core group of guys who have been for the most part perrennial all-stars. They continue to get it done and are the foundation that the Eskimo teams of tommorrow are being built around.

You are correct, and fast. I readjusted that thought process, but not soon enough. The only thing is while there has been turnover, it isn't always fresh legs like what Wally does, but good FA acquisitions or trades. I am too lazy to find out the average age of each team, but I would think that would be a direction that would clarify my viewpoint.

The Eskimos needed some good prosepects in the secondary and they have certainly found some, we are good there.

D-line we have some youth but moved too early and got rid of guys still able to contriubte.

O-line we have forceably had a few younger guys that have played well so far but it was still a roll of the dice starting with who we did.

We have not found a replacement for Marsh yet. (none of the guys they seem to be juggling back there has been near as visible as Marsh)

We need for sure next year another WR. Mookie and Hervey are still good but getting on a bit. Gaylor I am not high on. Alston needs more of a look, I'd hoped the last two years we would have come up with a new WR who's talent and drive would force himself onto the roster.

True dat fish... but what about a ground game as well?? We haven't had one since Avery left. This would take pressure off a predictable passing offense, release the oline to block aggressively, and keep our defence rested. Has our scouting been that bad or has DM and Hughie relegated a ground game to a much lower prioroty??
