Trade Deadline - Buyers or Sellers

The CFL trade deadline is an interesting thing....Not as busy, for sure as the 4 major leagues...

My thoughts would be that we could see some action come Sept 19 based on the results of this Friday. We lose, we sell...We win, we buy....

Who could be gone? Who could be coming? This year more then most (outside of last years) trade deadline deals could be a coming...and could be very very interesting...

Some thoughts on who could go if we lose Friday:

    - One of our Canadian FB's...We have a plethora of Canuck FBs....could we see Mr. Maurer, Mr. Bertrand or Mr. Bradley on another team come Sept 20?
    - Mr. Mookie Mitchell...Give Mook one more kick at the can? I am not sure how many more years Mook has and if a contender comes a knockin do we let him go?
    - One of Garrett, Frank or Kelly Whiltshire...All three have played semi-well this year and could help improve the depth in someone's secondary. Obviously Whiltshire would garner the most interest...

Now having said all this I am well aware that the status quo says that trades in the CFL rarely if ever occur....so it is mostly just me blowing smoke out my but....

If we lose on Friday we'll be starting the rebuilding and take any good offer that achieves that goal.

If we win I think we stand pat except maybe a move for a lineman.

We are not out of it if we lose this week as long as the Riders alos lose. It is actually rather rare that anything big happens this time of year, I wouldn't expect any deals of note. I'd say there would be a bigger chance we would make a deal if we win. All depends on injuries this coming week as well. The one deal that would not surprise me much would be us trading Durden for a medium round draft choice.

Considering the names that have been outright released this season, Joe Montford, Sam Young, Antonio Warren, George White, Yeast, and...... well you get he picture, I doubt that anything transpires.

Did you mean Bradley or Dubuc? Bradley I think is a RB, not a FB. With Bertrand out, we should see alot more of Dubuc in the lineup.

I agree. Plus, with all the NFL cuts, I think the only thing that might be traded is the rights to certain players.

Regardless, other than Hamilton I still see the rest of the teams in this league with legitimate shots at playoff spots. Don't forget that the cross over is still in effect!

Mookie Mitchell isn't going anywhere! He is still one of the most explosive players in the league. He'll be around much longer than Hervey, IMO.
              Our balls are bigger, eh.

I always kind of felt we should have gone after Warren and kept big Joe....

Alot of people would have said we couldn't afford Warren, but considering right now he's not making ****, I think we could offer him a little something to come and play with Troy Davis.....

Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I say if we're selling anymore.. trade Shannon.

Yeah, he's one of the veterans on the team, but we also got Donny Brady back, so I think he's a trade asset we have.

Whilshire,Dixon,Charbonneau,Bertrand or Dubic(don't need both), Mike Bradley(only because the coaching staff is not letting him play, kids good and has heart, it's a shame and he deserves to play),Durden(might get a bag of chips for him),Tompkins and virtually anyone from the o-line.
Those are the fellas i'd trade in hopes of getting something back that we can build on.
