At least the Oilers aren't rolling over and playing dead...........

The Vancouver loss wasn't that bad of a game to watch. The pre-game skate was weird. I only counted 10 regular Oilers in the line-up. Two were goalies, and the only guy with more than 3 years in the NHL was Smith and Sykora.

For you Robert Nillson doubters, he looked good last night. He couldn't buy a goal, but he made all the right moves. His puck handling is above average; his decision-making is also outstanding. He even tried a wraparound at one point.

Lupul looked good once again, he had a couple great shots on net and set up a couple more.

Sykora was on the ice almost the entire night; at least it seemed like it.

Horcoff was also in the midst of things, he controlled allot of the play and had several chances himself.

Stortini and Jacques are keepers, I like the way they hit players. That has been missing from Oilers hockey. And Pouliot gets physical as well.

Allot of our rookies look good; the only question mark was Young. A few Canuckleheads skated circles around him and drew him into two penalties. I don't think he saw the ice after the second penalty.

And are Vancouver fans ever as bunch of goofs. I saw one guy with an inflatable Stanley Cup. I told him he wasn't allowed to blow it up until the Canucks had a Cup. I saw him just after the pre-game skate. He was still blowing it up in the third. And at the end of the game you would have thought Vancouver won the Stanley Cup. Guys were screaming and hollering over the win. Three guys were walking into busy traffic and I could swear one of them (if not all) was going to get run over. For christ sakes, they just barely beat the AHL Oilers. In fact, I think we played the better game.

Bisaillon had a good first game too, I think he could a few games for us next year, or be the first call-up guy if someone gets hurt.

The Oilers played okay against Minny last Thursday as well.

All these losses have been by one goal. At least they are not being blown out.

Yeah, I just mentioned that in another thread. He looked great, he actually didn't look out of place.

I just hope MacT doesn't use the "injures" and the kids playing as the excuse to as why they aren't scoring... got news for him - we wheren't scoring when everyone was healthy.

MacT isn't doing the shooting. The fact he has held this team together the last 11 games is another testament to how great a coach and leader that he is.

Hehe, maybe the Oilers can show a little more try and actually win their next two games.....

(Now why would I want that??)

Let me guess, any other coach would have this group as winners of 8 of the last 11.

I'm sure that a half decent one would have more than zero wins.

Right DDS, I guess injuries, inconsistent play from some of our better players and the complete lack of defensive depth are MacT's fault, eh? I guess last year was just a fluke. but you saying MacT is not a half-decent coach just screws all that away doesn't it.

Hey, just look at last Thursday's game againt Minny. We score late to come within 1. Then a TV break. What does Mac T do? He leaves the same guys outhere. By the time they come off they've been on skates fior 5 minutes. Then in the final 90 seconds he puts Peterson and Syvret on the point.

This is one example of many. Sure there are other reasons for our record. But that doesn't diminish the fact that MacT doesn't manage team very well, plays favorites, is impatient with line combos and plays a system designed around a breakout pass when there was never anyone to do that.
