The Vancouver loss wasn't that bad of a game to watch. The pre-game skate was weird. I only counted 10 regular Oilers in the line-up. Two were goalies, and the only guy with more than 3 years in the NHL was Smith and Sykora.
For you Robert Nillson doubters, he looked good last night. He couldn't buy a goal, but he made all the right moves. His puck handling is above average; his decision-making is also outstanding. He even tried a wraparound at one point.
Lupul looked good once again, he had a couple great shots on net and set up a couple more.
Sykora was on the ice almost the entire night; at least it seemed like it.
Horcoff was also in the midst of things, he controlled allot of the play and had several chances himself.
Stortini and Jacques are keepers, I like the way they hit players. That has been missing from Oilers hockey. And Pouliot gets physical as well.
Allot of our rookies look good; the only question mark was Young. A few Canuckleheads skated circles around him and drew him into two penalties. I don't think he saw the ice after the second penalty.
And are Vancouver fans ever as bunch of goofs. I saw one guy with an inflatable Stanley Cup. I told him he wasn't allowed to blow it up until the Canucks had a Cup. I saw him just after the pre-game skate. He was still blowing it up in the third. And at the end of the game you would have thought Vancouver won the Stanley Cup. Guys were screaming and hollering over the win. Three guys were walking into busy traffic and I could swear one of them (if not all) was going to get run over. For christ sakes, they just barely beat the AHL Oilers. In fact, I think we played the better game.
