Re: What would you like the Oilers to do this Summer?

Why don't we dig up Tim Horton and Carl Brewer instead?
Also, I don't think that JF Jacques is going to be a regular NHL'er.
Salary cap up by 8 million a year? I know I have asked this before but what was the year long strike about
Andrei Markov

Re: What would you like the Oilers to do this Summer?
Sign Danny Briere (probably at 7 mil or so a season)...if he's to expensive for the front office, shoot for Chris Drury.
Trade picks/prospects for Redden.
Love the Hill signing for a year. Good call PDO, I had him or Aaron Miller on my list.
Trade Horcoff for a low rounder to purge his salary.
Pick up a winger to play with Hemsky and Briere/Drury. I would have shot for Shane Doan before he re-signed with Phoenix. Maybe a guy like Darcy Tucker to inject some grit on the top line.
Sh!t or get off the pot on Rob Schremp. Either give the guy a spot on the club or trade him while we can still get something for him.
Redden - Smid
Smith - Staios
Greene - Hill
Gilbert
By my gorilla math we are adding probably 18 - 20 mil in salary with Briere, Tucker and Redden and re-signing Sykora and Torres while dropping Horcoff. Probably a bit high, but in all honesty I hammered this out in 5 minutes

Tucker already resigned in Toronto. And he was not cheap enough either. We may be able to afford a Redden and a Briere Drury but no way can we afford more high end salary than that. It will be debateable whether we can even get both Redden and one of those other guys, they are going to command big dollars.

Re: What would you like the Oilers to do this Summer?
One thinh we all have to keep in mind. It might be pointless to sign guys with the idea in mind that they'll play with somebody else specifically (example...someone to play with Hemsky, or someone to feed Lupul). The coach never keeps players together for long so....
Re: What would you like the Oilers to do this Summer?
I wouldn't touch Sean Hill with a ten foot long pole. unless you want Igor Ulanov, round 2.
Markov would be a great addition but we really need a solid offensive defenseman more then anything.
And please, no more Matt Greene in a trade rumour.

Hire some hotties to clean the ice like they have in a lot of other NHL cities. Oh and when Big Paul L can't sing anymore, someone hot will do. Not like the one they have singing in the crushed beer can in the city of cows.
When you don't know that you don't know, it's a lot different than when you do know that you don't know.

Projected salary cap: $48,000,000
Kevin Lowe has recently stated that he's attempting to up the budget.. went right through the press to do it ( ), so I think it's safe to assume the Oilers will be at $46,000,000 this season. Assuming that - there's no reason to believe we can't be competitive
So, under contract for next season (for all intensive purposes - lets assume that Stollie is healthy, shall we?)

Sorry I stopped reading as soon as I saw Horcoff as the first line center again.
The Oilers have far bigger problems than paying Shawn Horcoff $3,600,000 a year. Like, LW and D, and forwards who can check their own hat and separate the puck from the man.
E4E, he's the #1 D on Montreal. The guy is a complete stud. 27 years old, great on the PP, great at ES, great on the PK.
