    Gomez to Edmonton? Duhatschek

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl.../WBhockeyblog/

    Lordy.

I'm all for this: on the condition we're not playing musical chairs. Adding Gomez for the soft minutes could be absolutely brilliant, but if we're simply acquiring Gomez so we can deal one of Horc/Stoll then I'm against it.

Re-sign Sykora and run with this up front:

    Torres - Horcoff - Hemsky
    Sykora - Gomez - Lupul
    Moreau - Stoll - Pisani
    Thoresen - Reasoner - Petersen

Didn't we want him a few years ago but never pulled the trigger on the deal?

I like the Redden rumor more. He lives in Edmonton in the off-season, he lives in the same building as that loser Hallsy.

*snicker* put Gomez on your second line and keep Whore-cough on your #1 unit?

Man, that is one raging erection you've got for that guy.....

Well, call it the first line if you like, I'm more concerned about matchups.

Technically, Gomez would be on the third line, but all 3 would play about 12 minutes at ES a night.

Gomez would be put in a position to score as many goals as possible while not having to worry about the defensive side of the game as much. It's just maximizing his output.

you move WhoreC in a deal to get Redden....sign Gomez via FA, and go from there. Stoll is your #2 guy, the other pieces can fall into place from there....3 equal lines on 12 minute guys? I've seen your picture.....you're not MacT.

A balanced line up is one thing, but you need a much better back end than the Oilers have to pull that off and be successful - especially if they don't buy into the trap full time.

If the Oilers got Gomez there is ZERO chance he wouldn't play with Hemsky. In additiion he's going to want a truck load of money. I am not a big Gomez fan myself so I'm not in favour of this move but if he does come here he'll be on the #1 line.

I'd take Gomez on the first line put Stoll on the 2nd and trade Horc.

                      Okay, where do I start?

Horcoff, not a chance should he be 1st line if we have Gomez, and I'd rather have Stoll on 2nd line than Horcoff.

Last year has shown that Sykora and Lupul underachieve when on the same line, so split those two up.

Toby?! No. I don't even know who we have left for wingers, but I'll take them over Toby, and that means use one of those 1st round picks to take a winger. Either that, or trade Horcoff for a winger because I'll take Pouliot on the 4th line. or Nilson, he had some good games at the end of last year, or at least showed some promise.

I don't claim to speak for PDO, but I believe he doesn't really care who is called "first" or "second" line. I'm thinking that because Gomez and Hemsky are both playmakers, it doesn't make sense to have them on the same line. And because Horcoff is better defensively that Gomez you probably match him up against the other teams big guns.
That's my take on it anyway.

Guess who just earned himself some rep?

We have a winner. I could care less who we call the first line center. Say it's Pouliot for all I care. All that matters to me is that we have a lineup that will win. Having Gomez and Hemsky one the same line makes absolutely no sense, for a multitude of reasons... both are play makers, Hemsky is far better at ES than Gomez is, and neither is a sniper. We already have a center who compliments Hemsky very well in Horcoff. The only spot that we should be concerned with is their LW... Smyth worked, and if we can't find someone else who worked, put Torres there (who has had good to great ES results the past 3 seasons), and let a guy like Gomez run the soft minutes.

I'd rather have Stoll on the 1st line with Hemsky if that's the case...Gomez might work well with Pisani or Sykora.

I'd rather have the opposition worried about playing defense, rather than our first line worried all the time.

90% of teams play power versus power.

It just makes sense unless you have two Norris defensemen on the blueline and a Vezina candidate in net .

Stoll isn't fast enough to play with Hemsky. Period. Horcoff may have issues in tight at the net, but so does Stoll, and Horcoff is a much faster skater than Stoll.

Remember what Stoll and Hemsky did together last year in the playoffs?

                              Exactly.

                              Nothing .
