.. and he also said they were talking earlier in the season, but couldn't get it done.
Honestly, I don't see much I'd want from Ottawa. Meszaros would be interesting, obviously, but we're already overloaded with young D who still can't quite yet play, and I doubt Ottawa would trade Meszaros for Stoll straight up either. A 1st is nice, but it'd be very late and not nearly enough on it's own.
I think Vermette is a pretty solid player, but do the Oilers really need another softish, offensive minded player? Foligno is the only prospect that really interests me... he's a little rugged, a LW, and can chip in occasionally.
Really though, it doesn't look like much of a match.
That said, I do think trading Stoll makes a lot of sense. Down the middle right now we have 10-89-13, with several guys knocking on the door, and a host of guys who can also play pivot, including Brodziak, Pisani, Reasoner (who, admittedly, may not be back next season), and of course Pouliot on the farm, along with Nash down in the NCAA.
On the PP, his value is clearly on the point. Ideally, I'm hoping to see Hemsky moved back to the point on the PP... but outside of him, we still have 77-44-25, along IIRC Cogliano played the point in College.
The PK? We'd miss him to an extent, for sure, but again we'd still have 10/34/18/51/13/19, and hopefully next year they work on getting 14 in on the PK as well.
And, of course, we have to pay him at least $2,000,000 next season, if not more, so it certainly doesn't hurt in that regard.
The guy I really want remains Jeff Carter, who is reportedly on the block.
27-10-83
14-89-Carter
18-13-34
And suddenly we have a nice little top 9 there, and we already know we hav a fourth line in 20-51-46.

.
(minus the PP point presence, of course). Don't get me wrong, I'm not all that familiar with the Sens, but Fisher seems to be able to do most of the things Stoll does.
