Down 7-1 after 2 periods at home, the penalty kill is a joke and has been since day one, the team looks lost. Is anyone else silently rooting for the Hawks to really put the boots to us in the 3rd (I'm thinking 10-1 or 11-1) to make it damn near impossible for MacT to keep his job after this debacle?

The team just looks sloppy out there. Fighting the puck, too anxious. MacT can put a few good performances together in a season, but we are always inconsistent and never take it over the top. It's time for MacT to go, he's not terrible, but we won't be a powerhouse with him.

I'm sure there will be some posters on here, that will just say the Oilers ran into a hot team and there is nothing to worry about, and that this has nothing to do with coaching

I really wanna see how they spin this dismal performance.

I figured out why I'm so bloody infuriated with this team despite their serviceable record overall.

It's their play at home.

Yeah, we aren't playing bad every game - on the road, we're doing decently.
But I keep hearing "Oh, let's just get through this horrible road stretch at .500, then we'll clean up at home" from multiple sources (family, friends, etc.)...well, this ain't cleaning up.

Take out the first two games of the season and we're 2-5-2 at home in the last nine. 1-0 OTL to Boston. 5-2 loss to the Leafs. Gave away a 3-2 OTL to Colorado. Lost 4-3 to the Wings. Lost 2-1 to the Kings. Yes, the 5-2 win vs Dallas and the 3-0 win against the Canucks were good, but the shutout to the Panthers and now getting smoked by the 'Hawks balance those out.

Yeah, maybe we deserved to win a couple of those or whatnot, but the fact is that you need to take points (plural) out of a large portion of your home games in this league and we aren't doing it. I'm not going to try to guess how many pts we gave away out of our home games (e.g. losing 4-3 to the Wings is no crime), but I'll guess it's between 4 and 6 and that's only in a quarter of the home season.

If they can put together a good stretch of production in the four home games between now and the new year (which really, they should, if they want to be considered as any sort of playoff contender - ANA, PHX, NSH, OTT, at LEAST six pts), then maybe there'll be a ray of hope going into January (which goes 5 home, 3 away, 4 home). Till then, I'm holding my optimism, and will likely boo Pronger more on Friday than cheer the Oilers.

It should be the death blow but I doubt it.

As an organization, the Oilers are simply too inbred and they are relying on everybody's legacy.

In its glory years the team relied on talent because there was no "legacy." There was just some great talent that nobody knew about and they blossomed into a great hockey power based on ability. The legacy followed but the act is getting old.

Somehow, some way, the Oilers have to get some new blood into the organization but beware of the "buddy" system. It goes down hard, if at all.

How'd you like to spend $300 on a couple of tickets, food, drinks, parking and such and end up with this stinker of a game? It had the makings of a great match. Too bad one team didn't show up.

I have three points (nasty frostbite on my hands....):

#1) Oilers came out like gangbusters. At the point of the Horcoff goal they were decently out chancing the Hawks. Probably about 1.5-1.

#2) The PK. Is wrong. All of it. I'm left to assume Bucky was given it.... because it is NOT a MacT PK. Period.

#3) Garon sucks. If he can make a ****ing save in the first 30 minutes this is a very different game. I could care less if he was waived.

oh wow.. forgive me if I dont plan a parade for MacT and his ONE GAME performance.

Its been his pattern.. one good game, bad game, bad game, medicore game, good game..

He's a average at best coach, and over the , what 9 years he's proven that over and over again...


But hey if you wanna neglect it, whom am I to tell you different. You have your views, and I have mine... You like MacT , and I can't stand him. If I took into consideration of your views on the Oilers we would have never been friends..

He's the head coach isn't he? Then that makes it a MacT PK (Puke & Keel)

Garon had ZERO help by those in front of him. He made enough saves early while waiting for the team to extract it's collective heads from their posteriors.

This team has shown once again that they are not playing for the guys behind the bench.... time to make changes

PDO, it's time to face facts, the coach has to go (actually the entire ****ing staff can go). If MacT hasn't stepped in to fix the PK when he is capable of fixing it, then he's useless. If he HAS stepped in to fix the PK, it still sucks and he's still useless.

Garon has been brutal for stretches this year, no question. Do you think the 3 goalie carousel has had anything to do with that? When he got steady work last year he was stellar.
