If we're diving for 5, who are we hoping to get? I don't follow junior hockey.

Re: Who Are the Top Prospects for This Year's Draft?
My doom prediction is that the Oilers rally and take 5 out of a possible 6 points in their last three games and thus move into 3rd last overall. Then some team behind them wins the lottery and bumps the Oilers to 4th pick and we miss out on the top three.

It's going to be too big of a hole as long as we keep playing JDD.Originally posted by Beerfish View PostMy doom prediction is that the Oilers rally and take 5 out of a possible 6 points in their last three games and thus move into 3rd last overall. That said, I'd honestly rank the top 3 Seguin, Fowler, Hall."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

That's at least 10 points in 30 games. I'm not sure this team is capable of winning that many games, nevermind how much more we'd have to get to catch the wins that those teams ahead of us get.Originally posted by beware View Postthats more then likley what will happen. they will win games this year. i think we'll draft anywhere from 5 on

Now it's a bit tough to determine how good someone is when they are in juniors but Hall has bust written all over him. I'd be perfectly happy with Seguin.Quote from Inquiring Mind:

I'd be happy to trade the top draft pick and/or Eberle for a proven superstar if we can swing it.
Eberle has looked great on the international junior stage. Not sure if that will translate to the more physical NHL game. And his stock is very high right now.

What do you base such a ludicrous comment about Hall on? Do you know something the rest of us do not?Originally posted by stamphater View PostNow it's a bit tough to determine how good someone is when they are in juniors but Hall has bust written all over him. I'd be perfectly happy with Seguin.

I haven't seen Fowler or Seguin play; and I've only seen Hall a few times.
But he's impressed the hell out of me. For what it's worth.
What I've heard, and I don't know what's actually true is that the top 8 or so are great prospects but it falls off sharply after that. These pretzels are making me thirsty.

Re: Who Are the Top Prospects for This Year's Draft?
Don't get me wrong, the guy obviously has some very talented hands but the type of game he plays won't translate in the big leagues. It will be on him to adapt to the higher level of hockey in the NHL but I've seen plenty of players just like him turn into career AHLers. If he's an Oiler then I'd be perfectly happy to be wrong but time will tell.Originally posted by dickwhad View PostWhat do you base such a ludicrous comment about Hall on? Re: Who Are the Top Prospects for This Year's Draft?
Hall is a physical freak for a kid his age... it'll be interesting to see what happens to him when the D are the same size as him and can still keep up.
I'd be very happy with any of the three, but Seguin is the guy who is doing exactly what Hall is doing, while younger, with way less help...
And I loved the hell out of what Fowler showed at the WJC, especially in the two games against Canada. He was unbelievable."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. I'm not a scout either, but I agree with those rankings.Originally posted by PDO View PostThat said, I'd honestly rank the top 3 Seguin, Fowler, Hall."No one entertains the thought that maybe God does not believe in you." - Bo Burnham
