    Oilers sign Kurtis Foster

    2 years, $1.8M per year.

Great signing. Tambo really on a roll right now.

Had 34 assists last year in TB, too. Strikes me as quite the puck mover. Good pickup by Tambo. Will complement Smid quite well.

Now we just need 1 more d-man to fill out the roster - assuming they stay within the organization for the extra guy. Re-sign Aaron Johnson is my vote.

I think I could live with a bottom pairing of Vandermeer-Johnson. Not sure we'll be able to find a much better #6 d-man than Johnson.

This is a great pickup. Great story after his horrific/near career-ending injury a couple years ago. Gotta agree with Jase; Tambo has done a masterful job this off-season.

Great value signing. He's a good player; the length and dollar amount are both good.
He's got a cannon of a shot. He'll play on the PP.
My only question is, can he fight?

If he and Whitney can bring the same level of tenacity in front of the net/after the whistle that Smid brings we're going to be in good shape.

                  Was on vacation .

I'd say he's done a good job so far. Thing is, everything he's done has been pretty easy... the big question is what does he do with the cap space, how does he shelter the rookies, and what happens with the mess in net?

And of course what happens with Souray, and which kids do we keep (Brule, Cogs?).

Still lots to do, but Foster is a fantastic addition at his price point, Frasor's dollars look good, Moreau getting picked up was a blessing, and the Vandermeer trade was a shrewd one for sure.

That Boogard rumor is just horrifying though.

And of course there's still a lot of contracts to give out.

                  It's a nice start though.

And he sure-as-**** better not put Souray on re-entry waivers. If nobody wants him at full price, kindly tell Souray to go **** himself and play in OKC. Enough of rolling out the red carpet to players who want to be moved.

That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Consider where it came from. Larry Brooks is the one who said it. He's a hack and is probably just trying to "defend" his "good buddy" Slats.

Yup. Rishaug said the Oilers were in talks but dropped out when it got to be too expensive. In other words, Brooks is doing his typical BS. Where is Torterella when you need him?
