A real hard nosed team! They should compete. Of course being canadian they are expected to win gold. Heres to another Championship!

Maybe if it goes down to a shoot-out like the Women's did, we can send Thornton down first to punch the goalie in the grill...

What is this hockey that you speak of?
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Good to see Smyth on there.

Not as strong as years past, but I still think we'll do okay. Like Lloyd pointed out, they seem grittier than most of our teams .

If Smyth isn't named the captain, that would be a total lack of respect.

Gotta appreciate Smyth stepping up for his country, unlike Iginla who isn't going because he is getting his tonsils out

I agree, although I could see someone like Jovo or Draper getting the C as well. Smyth will at least have an A, if not a C.

Smytty better get the "C" - I'm not even sure they should even vote on it. I can't wait until the boys get here for camp. I'll even post a pic or two for the faithful on here...
The only thing I would've liked to have seen on this team that isn't here would've been Stevie Staios. Super guy, great team leader, and never asks why, he just shows up and asks "what do need me to do"? Just flat out one of the classiest dudes in the league.

Staios' house here is down the street from one of my friends'...met him once, great guy.

I would've liked to have seen him on it too......I wonder why he didn't come (I assume he was asked), was he still in European playoffs or something?

                              Re: Canada announces WHC roster

Just out of interests' sake the lines during the first two days of skates have been:
Simon Gagne with Brendan Morrison and Dany Heatley
Patrick Marleau with Kris Draper and Shane Doan
Mike Fisher with Brenden Morrow and Kirk Maltby

The only forwards aren't here are Smytty, Nash & Thornton - who might actually play together as a line once tourny starts. Habby has mentioned a couple of options, but is waiting for the exhibitions before making any concrete descisions. I will say this tho - pretty good tempo considering how long these guys have been off...
