    Re: NHL DRAFT

The Oil selected Dubnac instead of the highly rated Schwartz. Brian Burke says Schwartz is the better goalie and that's good enough for me. I think the Oil screwed the draft up AGAIN...

DesLauriers is still a ways a way and it's still questionable as to whether he'll ever be an NHL calibre goaltender.

        Re: NHL DRAFT

Well, wether it's a good thing or not, I think all of the Oilers picks on the first day of the draft were players that they highly coveted, and didn't expect to get. So I guess that's a good thing -- provided you have some faith in the team's scouting system.

Also, I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, but the Oilers traded away Jason Chimera to get an extra draft pick. I wish Chimera all the best, but I'm honestly not sad to see him go.

Chimera was a guy that MacT just didn't like for some reason.

I think that Robbie Schemp (sp?) was a steal as the 25th pick...

              Re: NHL DRAFT

Picking Dubnac was smart, a 6"5 goalie who posted great numbers in the WHL. He's a keeper.

It was a steal to get Schremph at 25.....some scouts had him in the top 10.

As for the Chimera trade, I like it. Chimera can't seem to play in the defensive zone. This trade also means the Oilers will look harder at Rita.

                You are correct.

His Sv% numbers were 2nd best in the "Q"

He's also a big guy, and has been invited to the WJC camp on multiple occassions.

He was given a 600K signing bonus....that's alot for a 2nd rounder. He has the tools, and I expect him to be an NHL goalie with the Oilers in 2 years.
