I think the other teams overlooked a gem. He's a good player. Can't believe he lasted this long. Wasn't he undrafted last year? Can't recall. I think the Oil's first-rounder was also a good choice. Don't know who else they got, but I think those two choices were really good ones.
Problem is if you don't fit the mold (6-2+, 225+ pounds), they tend to look past you. Our first-rounder was, I believe, the smallest player drafted in Round 1, but he's tough and a very good skater.
Such as Mike Comrie, who despite his attitude is a good small player. These new rules were made for guys like this.
But then what do I know about talent? I'm only a politician.
i remember him, he was on the commercial, and he was a really good defenseman last year in the Memorial Cup, i watched that. wow, he went 3rd round, ya i agree thats a steal!!

Yeah, I was amazed to see that the oilers picked him up at that spot what was it 81 or something like that, surprizing that he wasn't taken already but I'm not complaining
The greatest wealth is Wisdom; the greatest poverty is stupidity; the worst unsociableness is that of vanity and self-glorification; and the best nobility of descent exhibits itself in politeness and in refinement of manner.
Great to see the Oilers get this kid. Syvret was the captain of the London Knights last year, and had be projected to go first round.
On a side note: big congrats to Matt Kassian of Edmonton for going second round to the Minnesota Wild. Without question, this kid is the toughest in the WHL.
