    newest cuts...

The Edmonton Oilers have assigned eight players to their two American Hockey League affiliates.

Assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs are Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers (G), Mathieu Roy (D), Jean-Francois Jacques (LW) and Marc-Antoine Pouliot (LW).

Going to the Iowa Stars are Kyle Brodziak (C), Matt Greene (D), Yan Stastny (C) and Zack Stortini (LW).

With the assignments, the Oilers now have 28 players remaining in camp; three goaltenders, nine defencemen and 16 forwards.

So, two more forwards, two more defensemen and 1 goalie will be cut.. looks like our final roster is shaping up nicely..

Still have Schremp and Rita fighting for that last forward spot, it seems.. anyone think Semenov or Cross will be dumped (who would take 'em?!)?

Him getting injured really put him behind the 8-ball, as far as camp went. You can't keep a guy this late into pre-season based on "he PROBABLY will be great". If he really performs well in the AHL, he'll get his shot over the regular season, then it's up to him to keep it.

Gotta keep Schremp for now. The Oil have 10 games in the reg season for him to prove his worth before they have to keep him or send him to junior

Rita had a very strong game last night and I'm hoping he sticks with the big club. Almost everyone has given up on the kid but he's been one of the few Oilers creating scoring chances this pre-season when the big guns have been sitting...

Just curious, but how did Marc Antoine Pouliot do in the pre-season. I never saw any of the games. Did he look like he will be an NHL'er?

I actually never had a problem with Cross, but you guys have better insight for training camp than I do. I definitely like the potential of Semenov though. Hardest shot in the league, if only he could get 'er on net more often.

I think cross will stay man, semenov > cross but if semenov doesnt look great early cross will go in im guessing.

Syvret and schremp though caught alota eyes man, and will obviously be playing now vs vancouver saturday, their last chance to impress. they will probably both be going down, unless rob makes it then rita has to be gone, but the word is its gonna be a tight decison to make. rita seems to have alota scoring chances but his trigger is jammed or something, he misses so many scoring chances, but atleast he creates plays, and mact likes that I guess.

yeah exactly, I remember a few years ago, I really liked jarret stolls game, watching him play in the WHL for the ice he stood out a bit then I found out he was oiler property, he was their captain and really liked this guy then.

Then he gets called up for those 10 games and he earned his spot straight up, and Schremp will to.
