Re: The Oilers Stink!
Wow... sounds likes its time for a good tirade and a post game bag skate... give those fans who stuck around something worth watchingLook. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Glad I went to see Emo Philips tonight instead of watching this team who day after day are showing that they are tuning out the message that MacT is sending. Does KLow have the stones to fire one of his best friend(s)?I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Re: The Oilers Stink!
The first thing to do is recall Mike Morrison. He was the best goalie in training camp and deserved to make the team in the first place. He is simply rotting in the ECHL where he will not improve one iota. Markannen is a decent goalie but he can't play on back to back nights. That was known coming into the season.
Right now the team is terrifed of their own goalies, too tight to do anything. Morrison and Markannen split the rest of the season and you recall Pouliot, Stasny and Syvret if only to send a message to the rest of the team.
If you can trade Laracque and Dvorak then do it. If you can't no problem. Sit them in the press box. I don't know what you do with Cross and Conklin--maybe send them to a nunnery.
Hey here is a crazy idea. Is Ted Nolan still sitting around somewhere doing nothing? Maybe he could bring a few new ideas in here, my god there must be someone who can help out our special teams. Hey, what about Simpson, how does he get his hair to go like that? Never a hair out of place. It's downright spooky.

Re: The Oilers Stink!
Agreed. It was a lot easier for me to become an Esks fan first, even though about 75% of the games my dad took me to as a kid were Oilers games.Originally posted by EskiPhenomSorry if I'm not as down as the rest of you, in my lifetime the Oilers have never been anything but losers. It made it easy for be to become a rabid football fan as a kid.
And who really needs the Oilers when the Bears ran all over Calgary 5-0 tonight

Re: The Oilers Stink!
All these knee jerk soultions! You can't get quality in a trade when you have very little. No use trading your futures either. The Oilers just have to clear all the current management regime and start anew. It all begins with the draft and developing your own players. Get rid of the entire scouting staff as well as they have consistently proven that they can't make asute picks.
Actually it's good to finish last for at least 2-3 years in a row so we can really get some good young players. If you finish in the middle all the time, you don't get any good picks unless you are lucky. If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

I enjoy watching pro hockey rather then University hockey.. but maybe that's just me... I couldn't have cared less when the roadrunners were in town either.Originally posted by gizmo fan 2And who really needs the Oilers when the Bears ran all over Calgary 5-0 tonight

Fair enough. And with the new rules the NHL has opened up a bit - before that, university hockey had SO much more flow and was a lot faster than the pros, it was higher-scoring and a lot of fun to watchOriginally posted by Edmonton FanI enjoy watching pro hockey rather then University hockey.. but maybe that's just me... I like CIS and junior because for the most part, they're playing for the game, not the money (and if they are playing for the money to come, then they'll be playing real hard to get to the point where they could get that money). The RoadRunners put up so many crappy efforts last year, and right now the Oil aren't doing much better. At U of A, you know you'll see guys giving their all every game (helps that they know that they're expected to go undefeated and win Nationals - anything less is a bad year).
And like I said, when you're paying $10, max, per ticket to see a good, fast, hard-working, winning hockey team, it's a great value for your money.
